Posted March 17, 201113 yr #Marlins CF Chris Coghlan's shoulder tendinitis has gotten worse. Will play OF minor league games so he doesn't have to throw. Probably doubtful for Opening Day on the 1st. With the Spring Wise is having you have to assume he would get the starting nod opening day right?
March 17, 201113 yr Ok so how bad is this in terms of how long is he out? Is this just a matter of his body not being ready yet or is it something more serious?
March 17, 201113 yr Crappy ST and now this? It's over folks, no point in even watching the team this year.
March 17, 201113 yr I am worried about a repeat of 2007.......hopefully they are getting the injuries out of the way now......
March 17, 201113 yr So in the meantime will Infante move to leadoff and LoMo up to #2? Boni and/or Wise lead(s) off and everyone stays the same for now. If it becomes more of a longterm serious problem then your idea is probably the way to go.
March 17, 201113 yr Author Ok so how bad is this in terms of how long is he out? Is this just a matter of his body not being ready yet or is it something more serious? Not sure, wonder if it has to do with CF and him making longer throws and his arm just not being ready yet.... I would hope he'll be back within a week or 2 of the season starting
March 17, 201113 yr Meh, we had this kind of issue with Cody Ross last year. Just put in Wise for a few games, maybe a week, then go straight to Coghlan. No big deal (unless the injury lingers throughout the season).
March 17, 201113 yr Oh boy... so basically Cogs is going to play CF during the regular season with about 5 innings of CF experience in ST? Is that about right? :confused
March 17, 201113 yr Oh boy... so basically Cogs is going to play CF during the regular season with about 5 innings of CF experience in ST? Is that about right? :confused You got it! Well he is playing CF in Minor League games just now, but not throwing much.
March 17, 201113 yr hopefully not a lingering problem... despite my misgivings about him in the outfield, he does have a fair arm out there.
March 17, 201113 yr You know, this is all sounding worse than it is because of the remaining question marks. I mean, he is still playing games... he's just not gonna make any forced throws right now. Its not like he's completely out of action. This seemingly just needs a few days I suppose.
March 17, 201113 yr the easy solution to this problem is to put him at 2b and infante in cf. He will still have to throw, but not as hard or far, unless it's turning a double play, or a play up the middle. I wouldn't look too much into this though. It takes a good month to get the shoulder in shape...at least. It's probably just regular early season soreness.
March 18, 201113 yr Ok so how bad is this in terms of how long is he out? Is this just a matter of his body not being ready yet or is it something more serious? I hate to keep harping on the team medical staff, but in the last few years they've had quite a few of these where it wasn't supposed to be serious and the player missed significant playing time.
March 20, 201113 yr If Bonifacio ends up any where in the day to day lineup because of this I'll blow a gasket.
