Hensley to DL, Hopper called up

Featured Replies

I guess that explains why he only pitched a 1/3 of an inning. Glad to see The Dragon back on the big club where he belongs.

TheDragon = Antonio Alfonseca

Presume there are lingering effects of his stair incident?

I'd call this a combination of the stair incident, Hensley's control suddenly being off, and the bullpen wobbling as of late. Hopper seems to be here to kinda freshen up the pen for a short time.

Good point, particularly with Volstad starting tonight, there could be the need for a long reliever, and a lot of the other guys have had heavy workloads of late

Nice to have him back, and hopefully the team responds to losing 2 in a row with an offensive performance tonight. Go FISH !

Yes and I believe he also was called Dragon Slayer so we'll give half credit to our resident doctor I guess.

Per John Baker, the team's nickname for Hopper is the Dragon. "He loves it when you call him that," according to Bake, though I suspect he might have been sarcastic about that.

Personally, I called Alfonseca "Fingers" for obvious reasons.

Half credit = no lawsuit.

I'm okay with that.

My lawyer tells me I should not comment any further.

Half credit = no lawsuit. My client is okay with that.

Yep. Dragon Slayer before he was El Pulpo. He got the second name because everyone suddenly picked up on the 12 fingers and toes thing, if I remember correctly. How that came to make him an octopus I have no idea. Always liked him, but he was an edge of the seat closer. Consistently made it more exciting than it should have been.

Since we are reminicing a bit.......I remember a close game when one announcer said he was up in the pen getting warming up. The other said that this won't take long, Antonio wakes up in the morning, runs his hand through his hair, and is warmed up.

Hensley has hairline fracture

MIAMI — The MRI showed Clay Hensley has a hairline fracture to his left scapular. That’s the bad news.

The good news for Hensley is it’s still realistic that he will be able to rejoin the Marlins’ bullpen on May 22, the day he is eligible to be reinstated off the disabled list.

“I asked [the doctor] if it would be 15 days, and he said, ‘yeah,’ Hensley said of his chances of a speedy return.

The MRI was taken on Monday, and the bone fracture will take four to six weeks to heal.

Hensley, the team’s primary eighth-inning setup reliever, was placed on the disabled list on May 7 with a left rib contusion. He suffered the injury while falling at a hotel in Cincinnati on April 29.

The right-hander last pitched on May 6 against Washington, throwing one-third of an inning.

– Joe Frisaro

Falling at a hotel? Seriously?

It's the curse of Dr. Beinfest.

His crazy hypothetical scenarios in the Leo Nunez thread actually happened.
