Yoenis Cespedes to Athletics

Can't blame him for taking the money but don't make Dumb excuses for it.

Him saying the A's wanted him more is true; they did, after all, offer him more money. Offering more money is usually a good sign that you're more wanted, no? I don't see anything wrong with what he said.

That and the argument that he didn't want to play for the circus down in Miami and his quote that he wasn't coming here (US) to play in the minor leagues. We had the most non-financial benefits, I already listed them. His agent made it sound like we really didnt try. According to Samson we were just to the point of stupidity trying to get him. We threw a reasonable offer at him and showed that we wanted him here for 6 years but made it clear he wasnt an absolute necessity . For his agent to say that the A's wanted him more, basically just because the price was higher and gives him an opportunity to make even more at a reasonable age in 4 years, may be true, but it's still bs feel good statement..I just don't agree with it. Just come out and say its about the money or come out and say its because you didn't want to play in the minors, whatever the reason is.. I appreciate honest athletes, like CJ Wilson when he turned us down even though a different situation.

Don't get me wrong, I dislike getting turned down but im glad were not taking the chance on him.

If he wanted more money more power to him...but I don't want him in our team if he's all about the money and not even a little about winning...

The marlins have a pretty good crystal ball. I bet pujols is hurt in 2 years, CJ has surgery this season, and cespedes ends up in the majors for a while but never becomes worth his contract.

I think that Reyes is much more likely to be injured before Pujols or Wilson.

That doesn't mean that I'm against the signing, but I don't think really think that the Marlins have a "crystal ball" or anything.

Cespedes sounds like a tool from the article above. His agent was quoted on the radio as saying that Oakland made him feel wanted more than the other team. Chance to play in top of the line stadium versus a dump. Chance to play on A Contender compared to a bottom feeder, chance to feel at home and in the company of Others compared to oakland. ****Blows raspberry***

All about the money and a better chance of playing In the majors this year. Doesn't sound like he wants to pay his dues.

Yeah, he took more money - what an asshole.

He' s almost a bigger asshole than Zombrano for signing that kid's ball.

lol, why do we keep getting owned. We lost Pujols, CJ Wilson, & now this guy.

Yeah, what kind of lame team signs Jose Reyes, Mark Buehrle, and Heath Bell but misses out on Pujols, Wilson, and Cespedes?! Sucks to suck!

There should be a Marlins meme generator.

32 teams in league:

Marlins sign 3 Top-10 Free Agents.

Marlins suck and Free agents hate them - pwn3d so hard!!!

- He'll be traded within two years anyway

This is a really stupid thing for a Marlins fan to mock another team with.

well it really doesn't make much sense for the A's to be signing a guy like Cespedes unless you are really planning on doing that in the near future, I say this mainly because the A's traded away 3 young good pitchers this offseason (Cahill, Gio, Bailey) and really have no room to compete in the AL West

never said marlins are the saints of not trading away talent

the A's are now doing exactly what the Marlins were doing. trying to stay competitive-ish while they try to get a new stadium.

It's hard to read braille when it's not raised or maybe he's going for telegraph with no sounds.

  • 4 weeks later...
  • 3 weeks later...

He's starting right now on Opening Morning (I guess thats what I'd call it) in Japan.

So far: 0-1, K.

But to be fair, he's facing King Felix.
