February 13, 201214 yr Man, teams have really been coming out of nowhere this off-season & snatching our closely watched FA's. First the Angels with Pujols, then the Tigers with Fielder & now the A's with Cespedes... I'd say more Wilson with Angels than Detroit with Fielder.

February 13, 201214 yr So I guess it came down to money. Not really a problem, as Cespedes is a complete wild card and there's no guarantee he succeeds in MLB. I have a feeling that after Cespedes met with the Marlins, and they wouldn't go above $6-7 million a year, we were out of it. Somehow the A's were paying attention and jumped on him quickly. I figure his agent didn't see a better scenario financially than the A's, as it looked to me like the Cubs dropped out to focus on the other Cuban kid who is like 17 and supposedly better than Cespedes.

February 14, 201214 yr I also wouldn't have been surprised if he went with Oakland because he wouldn't have to play in the Minors. We made it pretty clear he would probably end up there at the beginning of the year. The A's are just going to throw him in the majors in all likely hood.

I have to search a 34 page thread to find the actual part of the thread where him getting signed by the A's is discussed.

I seriously hope your not starting at page 10 looking for the Cespedes signing. Its normally Best to go from the last page back untill you find it. Took me about 20 seconds.

Chance to play in top of the line stadium versus a dump. Chance to play on A Contender compared to a bottom feeder, chance to feel at home and in the company of Others compared to oakland. ****Blows raspberry*** All about the money and a better chance of playing In the majors this year.
