Money seems to be an issue for the 2012 season, because they are deferring money in these offers to help them pay for the coming season. Paying $6 million for Leo could potentially complicate things. They have plenty of other arms who could step in and do the job (probably better) at a lower price.

If you are going to overpay for players, you do it as an investment because it will generate more revenue. Overpaying for Bell and Reyes does that. Overpaying for Leo does not, so you don't bring him back. He's not an important asset for the bullpen. He's easily replaced.

December 5, 201114 yr That wasn't my argument. My argument is that it's poor practice to overpay for players, unless they will generate revenue. Leo does not fall into that category.
