Imagine that, Canadian fans thinking they are gods gift to sports and all knowing. I kid, couldn't resist after all the crap about southern hockey teams,

I still don't see why people keep saying that Bell is a product of Petco. Sure, he's better at Petco but he hasn't been a bad pitcher away from Petco.

Of his last five years, he's only had one bad season away from Petco.

The only reason why this should be criticized is because committing to a closer long-term is not the best investment. In terms of how good Heath Bell has been and the market for closers, Heath Bell is certainly worth what he got.

Left field Line – 334 feet (102 m)

Left field – 367 feet (112 m)

Left field alley – 401 feet (122 m)

Center field – 396 feet (121 m)

Right field alley – 400 feet (122 m)

Right field – 382 feet (116 m)

Right field line – 322 feet (98 m)

Left Field Line – 340 feet (104 m)

Left-Center Power Alley – 384 feet (117 m)

"Bermuda Triangle" In Left-Center – 420 feet (128 m)

Center Field – 416 feet (127 m)

Right-Center Power Alley – 392 feet (119 m)

Right Field Line – 335 feet (102 m)

On top of the fact that he hasn't been bad at all away from Petco, the dimensions of the new stadium are pretty similar to Petco. In fact, our park is deeper in just about every direction.

HR and K rates are fine outside Petco. He's going to be fine.

I'm really excited about this signing, probably even moreso than the Reyes one. Finally, the top tier closer we've been waiting for.

Looking at him, I gotta say that the black hat doesn't look good with the white jersey. I think the orange hat would be better.

I dont think the black hat looks bad but I do agree that the orange looks better and eventually think the orange one will phase itself into being the home cap by virtue of popularity if nothing else. I say keep the black cap for the black and gray jerseys

I haven't seen anyone with the home uniform/orange hat so I can't really give an opinion.

Heath Bell told CBS Sports (got the link from mystikol in Pujols thread: http://scott-miller.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/6270335/33714540)

"I'm telling you right now, we definitely can win the NL East, even with just Reyes."

Imagine that. Even with just Reyes.

As in, gee, even if we don't sign Pujols, we've got an embarrassment of riches.

"I think we can win the division right now," Bell continued. "The Phillies, I think we can beat 'em.

"Ryan Howard is hurt. They might not be getting Jimmy Rollins back."

HAHAHA! Heath Bell has been a Marlin for less than a week and he's already making a Jimmy Rollins type declaration!

Marlins shouldn't have rushed to sign bell. Big pappy is accepting arbitration possibly ceiling their off season spending.

Well signing Bell might have been a key factor into persuading Reyes, who might have factored into Pujols decision to maybe wanting to come play here as well.

Bell, just like Reyes, will have a backloaded contract; he'll make $6 million in '12.

In Bell's case, the $3 million missing from 2012 is being considered a signing bonus which will be deferred. 9 mil a piece in 2013 and 2014.

Heath Bell is upset that he only got 12 pages.

It was by far the worst of the three signings, though.

Albert Pujols got 150. CJ Wilson got more than Reyes and Buehrle.

What does that say about us?

Cool. International*. Miami

*except for the Eastern hemisphere

*except for anything outside of the Carribean and Latin America.

still not a fan of the Bell signing would have much preferred Madson for a few million more

although I did get a few laughs when they were comparing Bell to Chris Bosh.
