I have read parts of this thread but not all so it may have already been pointed out but I'd like to say JJ has been worth 3.1 WAR already this year. His ERA is close to sub 4 and the only reason it is so high is because he still has a very high babip of .338 compared to career babip of .302. His Rest of Season Zips projected ERA is 2.79. He has already been worth his contract for this year and a similar performance next year would make him worth the 13.75 salary he is owed.

 

I understand the situation the franchise is in right now and would be fine if the trade him for a future stud but right now JJ is still a really good pitcher who may actually prove to be a bargain. I'm more than ok with him staying for next year.
