Could be some tactic on the Rangers part to see if we'll go lower with JJ. They say that they don't really want him and we're supposed to panic. Not gonna happen obviously, so we'll see where this goes.

 

This. When the Darvish big process went on in December there were so many "reports" that the Rangers were overbudget and were short on cash. And then BOOM...multimillion dollar bid. They know what they're doing. They wanted JJ in 2010 and even took on Oswalt (speaking of injuries) this year in need of another starter. Just need to hope Marlins get what they want.

If the Rangers really want to lose the World Series for a third time in a row then eff them. With a pitcher like JJ they can win it all, or fail again. . .simple. The World Series window is not going to be open forever. You have to take your chances when you have them, I think the Rangers cave in the end. That's what Im counting on.

 

but keeping JJ would not be a bad option either so we are in a win win scenario. I would actually want to keep JJ and see him return to glory.

Idk if anyone has mentioned this yet but the Angels getting Grienke not only gives us higher leverage because JJ is now the best pitcher available, but also because the angels are in their division and are now most likely the favorites in the AL now. The rangers have one more year with Hamilton left and the fanebase is growing restless with the last 2 years being disappointments. I think they take the risk that he stays healthy the rest of the year, give us Olt, Perez and a lower prospect and maybe even extend his contract at the end of the season.

Could u imagine in the beginning of the year we would be talking trading JJ and already traded H2R. Man how a couple months can change things. That being said If we trade JJ go get this kid Olt. He has a freaking 390 OBP! An 26 HR in AA. Anyone else is gravy.

I really wish people would stop talking about Profar. We're not getting him as he's untouchable. JJ is most likely staying here. At most we are getting one of Olt/Perez/Martin.

I really hope we get Perez because it would be really fun to see the 3 young guys come up. If they all hit their potential (I know it's not that easy) we would have an unreal rotation especially when fernandez gets here. Im very high on eovaldi. A lot of dodgers fans though he would be the #2 behind kershaw (posted a lower rookie era than kershaw).I think we would be pretty similar to the nats.

I don't think their problem is Olt. I think it's profar. I have a feeling the marlins want him to pair up with Giancarlo as young superstars. Not that Olt wont be very good, but I don't think he's on profars level
