Texas is not giving up profar, I don't even think they'll do jj for profar straight up. Same goes for Baltimore and bundy

So does that mean that since teams, including the Rangers, are still in on him, they're willing to make a deal around their number 1 prospects? Wow.

I get the feeling that of the Angels and Rangers the one that gets greinke will be the lucky one. To keep up with the jones' the one who misses out on him is going to have to give up a lot. Best thing that can happen at this point:

 

1. dempster stays put.

2. garza is hurt and i think is out of the equation at this point.

3. Dodgers, orioles, bluejays fight over Shields and Liriano

4. teams from #3 plus rangers and angels fight over Greinke

5. Losers from #4 come begging for Josh.

 

Basically 5 or 6 teams fighting over 3 or 4 guys definitely benefits the sellers

 

If this goes down I really really hope its the rangers and orioles left at the end

I'm cool with them setting their sights high and not backing down until Tuesday. Hopefully we don't get left behind by then.

I think joker is willing the Rangers to get involved so we end up with Olt and others. I am starting to believe he is attempting jedi mind tricks. I am all for it b/c if it goes down that way i hope its the rangers as well. So you go on with your "these are not the droids you are looking for" shenanigans my friend!

Haha...It doesnt make sense for the Rangers to give up so much talent in terms of prospects for a possible rental player in Greinke. Who may not sign with the Rangers during the offseason theirs an uncertainty there. Atleast with JJ you'll have him for another year and he may be more inclined to resign with Texas due to its location being close to Oklahoma.

Haha...It doesnt make sense for the Rangers to give up so much talent in terms of prospects for a possible rental player in Greinke. Who may not sign with the Rangers during the offseason theirs an uncertainty there. Contending teams give up prospects for the current all the time. Right now, Greinke is a better pitcher and more likely to help them win this year. Championship windows aren't open forever, and the Rangers have to know this.

I just want him move, and I like how team is basically going after a King's Ransom of top grade prospects.

Unless Greinke and/or Shields end up getting injured or traded soon, we probably won't see too much of a bidding war for JJ for top prospects. IMO anyway.

I haven't seen Profar play, so I can't make real judgements here, but the numbers he has put up in the minors really don't showcase him as one of the top 3 overall prospects in baseball. Can anybody explain what makes Profar special (not a put down, a serious question).

 

Strictly from a hitting standpoint, Mike Olt actually gets on base more and has more power, while playing a position of greater need for us (3B rather than SS). If we had a choice between Profar and Olt, or Olt, Perez, and Martin, I'm not sure I'd take the first offer immediately before the second.

 

Should state I still would absolutely be thrilled with Profar like everybody else would.

Profar might be a 2B for us and he's 19, whereas Olt is 23. Olt would be on 3B tomorrow, Profar at 2b in a year or two.

In unrelated JJ news the Marlins are working hard to move Zambrano and Lee. They have two teams interested in Z. Deal would allow Turner to move to the rotation

Makes all the sense in the world to trade Z.
