Trading a player in his prime? Why that's just like trading Miguel Cabera! We could get a boatload of prospects in return, and as long as they are highly ranked by BA we can be sure that a couple of them will pan out. What could go wrong?

Agent joel wolfe says giancarlo feels "same" since unhappy tweet after trade. "It wasn't a reaction, it's a state of mind."

Giancarlo's agent Joel Wolfe declined comment about whether @Giancarlo818 had requested a trade. Not happy tho.

Just fucking trade him to the Rangers for Profar, Olt, Perez, and everyone else. Fuck everyone and everything :(

I dont think anyone can blame him. I certainly don't.

After those comments man I don't know what will happen. I think he stays but obviously will not be happy. However, Stanton isn't the type of player to let his emotions affect his performance or clubhouse attitude.

Beinfest said #Marlins have spoken to the agent for Giancarlo Stanton "a few times" since the Toronto trade.

Beinfest would NOT say if Giancarlo Stanton's agent has requested a trade. "We'll keep those conversations private.'' #Marlins

I guarantee he asked to leave. Ricky's agent has said that he wants out, so I have to think Stanton would like to go as well.

I bet it wasn't as black and white as "I want to leave."

Although, it was probably a ridiculous demand that pretty much means "trade me unless you want to do all of this..."

Meaning... bring back a team to play here or I want out, and kiss my ass for trading everyone away, please.

For all intents and purposes, he wants out I bet.

Stanton's a West Coast guy, and he was probably going to want to sign a long-term deal somewhere out West (like LA) when he was done here anyway. That was before they gutted the entire roster and traded away his friends. I also don't know what sane person would willingly want to play here next year. The Marlins are the equivalent of a dumpster fire at this point.

I hope he gets traded this offseason because they're gonna trade him, anyway. Really though, I wish he'd stay.

I'm curious...do you really believe that he won't stay on this team past arbitration years?

Past his arbitration years? I don't see him here without signing an extention to buy out one or two FA years.

I see him leaving ship as soon as he can to the west coast though. Sucks. Before November, it was speculation. Now I think it's inevitable.

If this team is so dysfunctional that they can't even keep Stanton, they're doomed. I'm hoping a cooler mind prevails with Stanton and that he'll just take guaranteed money with the Marlins.

The thing is, part of me doesn't wanna force him to stay here. While I know him leaving would be the death nail to my team, part of me thinks, "good, let it happen, this FO doesn't deserve an unhappy Stanton." Maybe him leaving opens up even more eyes to this tragic offseason.

I decided after the Blue Jays trade that I would become a fan of whatever team Stanton ends up with, whether that's this season or 4 years from now. I hope they trade him, so I can expedite that process.

Things are darkest before the dawn and they're not always what they appear. Looking to read the tweet leaves to try to devine what a person feels is a relatively new thing. The art of negotiating goes back a wee bit little longer than twitter, by a few thousand years.

.

All appears lost and I'm hitting the exits like many if the Marlins don't sign Stanton. I do think they'll sign him though. And build around him. It's all they have left. In the meantime I comfort myself that Stanton is in his own nice home while Samson is bumping into Hill and Beinfest, all down the hall at the Travelodge, refilling their ice buckets and fighting over the last bag of sour cream onion potato chips.

Ahhh yes, well what if Harvey Dent IS the Caped Crusader?
