If tweets can be believed Andrew Heaney will join the Hammerheads and will start Monday's game

What happened to the guy? I don't remember hearing about an injury.

what about chad james?

what about chad james?

First 2 outings were dominant, yesterday a little tougher as it took him 75 pitches to make it through 3 innings.

  • 1 month later...

Dug this thread up so I can post the result from Friday 5th July for the Jupiter Hammerheads.

Heaney went 6 innings, 5 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks, 7 strikeouts - ERA to 1.33 across 40.2 innings, 11 walks, 51 strikeouts.

Wittgren got his 16th save, 31 games, 37.1 innings, 6 walks, 41 strikeouts - 0.72 ERA!

Yelich 1-2, 1 HR, 1 RBI and 2 walks in the same game.

Who the hell is Wittgren and where'd he come from?

Maybe he can be like an A.J. Ramos, spend a little time in Jax and skip right to the big leagues. We'll need some good arms if/when some of the bullpen guys are dealt this month.

I think Heaney should be moved up in a couple of starts

He and Nicolino should both be in Jax in a few weeks...

Wittgren isnt exactly out of nowhere like Ramos. He was a 5th round pick i believe.

How he hasnt been promoted yet is beyond me

It's because Michael Brady is doing well as closer for the Suns. Once somebody needs to come up from New Orleans Brady will get the call up to the Zephyrs and Wittgren to the Suns. I'm sure we'll see Wittgren in the majors September 2014.

I'll go to a Heaney start and bring back a full report when he gets to jax

I've seen him live in Jupiter. Very smooth delivery. Was surprised when I saw how many times he was 93 -94. Was throwing a nasty slider from the way the opposing team was swinging at it.

He doesn't look that big on the mound.

Its not about Brady though. There are a bunch of non prospects on all these minor league teams. If Wittgren is ready for AA which he has been for a while, find a way for him to be promoted.

11.3 SO/9 in 40 innings

yeah he's moving up soon.

Surprised we dont have more in the top 50. I feel Marisnick and Nicolino are also worthy.

Marisnick is 40 on Baseball Prospectus for their updated ranking, Heaney 45 and Yelich is 7.

For Keith Law of ESPN, Yelich is 4, but his is top 25 only it seems.

Seems none of them are taking Yelich's recent struggles into account.

Why would they? The struggles aren't that alarming and it's a very small sample size.

Yeah, really. It's, what, 60 ABs against lefties? Plus he's been on n off injured, which kinda sucks ...

Heaney has another 5 scoreless innings so far, 1 hit, 1 walk, 4 strikeouts - 0.99 ERA.

It may be Jupiter, but its still awesome.

An ERA under 1 is still an ERA under 1. I'm sure he'll see AA, but I feel he's a guy who would be major league ready without needing AA.

Sample size is super small considering he hasn't even pitched 100 innings in his minor league career, but he's a top 20 prospect right now.
