Marlins suddenly have stable of young pitchers

Featured Replies

LHP A. Conley -- 2011 2nd Round pick

LHP A. Heaney -- 2012 1st Round pick

Plus: RHP N. Eovaldi, RHP A. DeSclafani, RHP H. Alvarez,

And don't forget about the three young pitchers the Marlins just took early in the 2013 draft: LHP Matt Krook, RHP Trevor Williams, RHP Colby Suggs

Me likey.

Don't forget Carlos Rodon in 12 months.

Only if the Mets stop being so useless

Well ... we all thought Moran had a chance of going #1 overall, and we were abso-damn-lutely positive he wasn't getting past Cleveland, so, we could be like, 2 or 3 and have a chance, maybe.

I don't think the two situations are comparable.

From what I've read about Carlos Rodon, he's more of a clear-cut No. 1 pick. A better overall talent then Appel in 2013 or Correa in 2012.

We shall see.

And Gerrit Cole in 2011?!

Which, apparently, he's debuting soon.

I think the comparisons were more that Rodon is the best No. 1 pick or "uber prospect" since Strasburg and Harper, but not sure how Gerrit Cole fits into such a discussion.

Need to do some more reading on the topic, there are people that are high on Tyler Beede too.

Me likey.

Other then Jose Fernandez and evoldi who can both cheese it in at about 95 are there any on that list who can bring the big heat? In the modern time MLB you have to bring the big fasty to the mound if you will have real success.

False. See Maddux, Greg.

False. See Maddux, Greg.

Maddux played in a different time and he had monster movement. Look what happened to him when he couldn't get that movement. Got to have the real cheese these days.

Which is why this team needs to lose every game. We will be in great shape by 2015

Setting up your jokes I see.

Maybe YOU are SomethingFishy. Mystikol will appreciate my joke anyway.

There's nothing funny about a lack of cheese.

Got to have the real cheese these days.

I keep a Kosher household. I'm not sure I can root for a player that is a beefcake and also has the real cheese.Lol. Serously though this team definitely needs more beefcakes and big stinky cheese.

REALLY? Dude the BIG cheese? The big nasty? Come on dude, watching Rookie of The Year lately? Seriously, hate to jump on the banwagon here, but you sir are a TROLL.

We've gotta have a pretty good rotation in a few years. I find it so improbable that we can't scrap together 5 good pitchers from all these candidates.

Ask Greg Maddux about that one...

Velocity isnt as important as movement, deceptiveness, and variety of pitches. Matt Lindstrom could chisel stone with his fastball, but it was flat and he had no secondary pitches so he was often times quite awful.

This is why people doubt Eovaldi's potential. His secondary pitches are not great and his 4 seamer has little movement(compared to his 2 seamer).
