Always liked Canha's power potential. He hit .300+ with an .890 OPS and 20 homers in AAA. We didn't really "dump" him though. Rockies got him in the Rule V draft.

​I didn't like this articles comps. essentially what I got from it is he has always been old for his league, and was never really challenged. The comps were not college bats and had much longer time in the minors and most of them had significant problems at some point in the minors. You can't discount a guy because he was successful at many levels and was never rushed through the leagues to see what they had.

 

 

I agree. I never pegged him as anything special but it's sort of silly to dump players that can be useful. I still don't understand why he was moved through the system so slowly.

 

 

Even if Canha because nothing but a decent bench bat, not protecting a guy worthy of a major league roster spot is stupid. Especially for a franchise desperate for offensive minded infielders.
