Latos for me. At least Hech made some nice defensive plays.

 

 

Ahhh here's my Latos vote. Can't go with Hech for his defensive plays, that pretty double on Friday and because sucking is the norm for him. Latos literally had the worst third of an inning of his life.

Latos bombed it but Hech had some at bats to make something happen and didn't do anything. I voted for Hech.

 

 

The offense (or lack thereof)... too many blown bases loaded opportunities... Bullpen gets honorable mention

 

 

Jarad Saltalamacchia. Outside of his homerun today, he's been just putrid, and unlike Hech, his defense has not come anywhere close to making up for it. Mat Latos makes a close second, but he's only responsible for blowing one game.

​this was my thinking as well. Latos would have been it, but again, it was only one game that he stunk in while Salts has been disgusting all week.

 

 

I'm not really trying to turn this into a serious debate but Latos absolutely blew 100% of his opportunities this week, regardless if it was just one game. Hech had a nice rbi double and several good looking defensive plays... Salty hit the first and so far only home run of the season... both of them did "something" right despite all that they did wrong. Latos did not one thing right in his appearance!

 

I'm not saying Hech and Salty had great weeks but Latos clearly had the worst performance of the week.

And the answer is not Hechavarria; he has sucked at the plate, but he has kept three games within reach with incredible defensive plays. Stanton had one great defensive play, but has been unbelievably lame at the plate, and it's his primary job to produce.

 

​Stanton virtually cannot produce if the rest of the lineup around him isn't producing. Either the opposing pitchers will pitch around him or he himself will try and do to much and then ultimately fail in key spots as he did this weekend. Stanton's production weights very heavily on the production of those around him.

 

 

Just seven games ago Stanton got a ball that hurt him. Fucking hurt him.

 

I don't really blame him if it takes him a month or so before he's eclipsing Mike Trout.
