6 Man Rotation?

Featured Replies

What do you guys think about going with a 6 Man Rotation after the ASG? I think it would be good for our injured starters, all 4 of them.

Rotation would be:

1-Jose Fernandez (Returning from TJ)

2-Henderson Alvarez (Chronic Shoulder Inflamation)

3-Dan Haren

4-Jarred Cosart (Vertigo)

5-Tom Kohler

6-Matt Latos (Bum Knee)

And trade one of the extra SP we have (Hand for a bench bat or bullpen arm, since we have Urena, and Phelps both stretched out and Nicolino waiting incase one of the 6 get injured (or just drop to a 5 man after an injury).

Thoughts?

You know what's better than being forced to start 2 mediocre starters? Starting THREE mediocre starters.

Like it if only to save Jose for next year. Haren will be traded so you'll have to use Phelps or someone in his spot

Have the Mets stuck to their 6 man rotation or has it only happened once? I understand saving Jose Fernandez for the long run this year but I would rather have Koehler in the bullpen and not starting.

They've stuck with it. But the Mets can do that because all of their pitchers are good, especially when they replace one of Niese/Gee with Matz. Our rotation is not that good so I'm not a fan of the idea. I'd rather watch Jose pitch more often.

True. Considering the fact he is coming right before mid season gives him the rest of the year. Alvarez I hear is probably another 1-2 months away? So probably July return for him as well.

Me three.

I'd also be very surprised if HA pitches again this season.

I think HA returning this year depends on the rest of the team turning it around and making the season somewhat relevant this month.

If we are back in the race come the All Star break then I'd much rather get an additional 3 starts or whatever out of Jose through a 5 man rotation than a 6 man for the rest of the season.

This.

A 6 man rotation only works if somehow all 6 are excellent, which is extremely rare. Or to somehow alleviate the bullpen or an injury riddled team, etc. At the end of the day, a 6 man rotation ultimately takes a few starts away from ur best starters.

I don't see what the point is of getting Jose extra starts. If he comes back before July, they should probably shut him down again in September

Jhonatan was designated for assignment. The end of a dynasty?

This is a sad day in Marlins history, but knowing how clogged our toilet is with Solanos, he'll clear waivers, report to New Orleans, and be back on the Marlins before we know it.

"Aw, shit, Ozuna strained his hamstring, who should we bring up to take his place?"

"Jhonatan Solano!"

"But we don't need a third catcher."

"BUT HE'S A SOLANO! He can do anything!"
