August 5, 201511 yr i vote for Pete Rose...that'll bring some life to the club At this point, sure, why not. I don't care.
August 5, 201511 yr According to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald, folks around Loria have suggested Terry Kennedy (has won manager of the year twice in the minors and is currently a scout for the Cubs) and Twins double A manager Doug Mientkiewicz. Other candidates include the obvious: Lowell, Black, Baker.
August 5, 201511 yr Who the fuck buys a manger at IKEA? If the Bible was set in Sweden, you can bet Joseph and Mary would have bought one at Ikea because Costco and Big Lots were too far away...Besides IKEA is a snap to a carpenter
August 5, 201511 yr Jack McKeon is old enough to have been born in one, so maybe that's what he means. He was born next to Jesus with a cigar in his mouth
August 5, 201511 yr Bo Porter I get incredibly angry every time I hear his name. And it's not even the fact he was a terrible third base coach, or that he used his position as third base coach to give his phone number to good looking women in the stands, I just hate his name.
August 5, 201511 yr I also hope it isn't Mientkiewicz, because I do not want to have to be spelling his name out on a daily basis. As far as his managerial style, I don't know. All I remember is his time as a player with the Sox. At this point Loria just needs to name himself manager. He's never going to find a manager that he'll be happy with. He's gone through managers who have won Manager of the Year, won World Series' with other teams, made consecutive playoff appearances with other teams. He's gone through managers that used a hard nosed, in your face style. He's used laid back, pacifistic managers. Hell, for everyone saying McKeon, we already brought him back once in a lost season and he wasn't good enough anymore. He's tried guys with years of experience and guys with absolutely no prior experience. This season he actually had the gall to put his general manager into the dugout and see if it could work. The question "Who is going to be the next manager", the real question is why we should care? Whoever it is won't be good enough, and even if they are good enough they won't get enough time to actually put together a winning team. I'm serious Loria, just go into the dugout. You know it's what you want to do anyway.
August 5, 201511 yr Get used to hearing Dusty Baker as Marlins manager. Dusty Baker would lead this team to the playoffs at the very least.
