August 17, 201510 yr I was just thinking wouldn't it be nice to have Jason Heyward in our outfield next year? Ship Ozuna off for possibly pitching or a 1B

August 17, 201510 yr Why on Earth would Heyward want to come to the Marlins? Yeah he would be a great addition to the team, but I can't figure one reason why he would consider such a poorly run organization
August 17, 201510 yr I don't. He is going to get grossly overpaid. The defense is nice, but the bat still hasn't live up to it's full potential.

If the Marlins offered him the most money, he would come here.

Apparantly the cardinals had him work on some stuff with his mechanics and it's clearly paying off. His slash line since June is very very good. If we could trade Ozuna for a SP and get Heyward that would be amazing (but won't happen).
August 17, 201510 yr Should be overwhelmingly "yes" Think it'll cost u well over 100 mill. Probably 140ish

If we could trade Ozuna for a SP and get Heyward that would be amazing (but won't happen). For what it's worth, this is why I said no. Heyward is a good player, but this team doesn't spend that sort of money and the money they do spend needs to be spent on SP. And I'm not in favor of trading Ozuna because it'd be selling low at this point. In all likelihood, they'll trade Ozuna for nothing and not sign Heyward. Because Marlins.
August 17, 201510 yr If we had enough money that we could sign with Heyward, we should buy certain and proven pitchers, not one just two. Our offseason No. 1 top priority should be add the pitchers both rotation and pen. Offense was secondary option.
August 17, 201510 yr Moot point, because Heyward isnt leaving Cardinal Nation. Heyward hasnt met Loria money.. sooo at ease with that prediction.

With Ellington, Barraclough, Conley and such. Without a doubt that money needs to go to SP.
August 17, 201510 yr Heyward is the exact type of player whose production would go into the toilet once he joined the Marlins. You're not going to get the Cardinals' Heyward at the plate with the Marlins. Hell, you won't even get the Braves' Heyward at the plate with the Marlins.
August 17, 201510 yr Too much money and I'm not interested in trading Ozuna when his value is so low.
August 18, 201510 yr I actually wouldn't be shocked to see Heyward with an organization other than St. Louis next year. With the emergence of Grichuk this season and top prospect Stephen Piscotty playing very well since his callup(along with the injured Matt Holliday and Jon Jay) the Cardinals actually have a crowded outfield. An opening day outfield of Holliday/Grichuk/Piscotty with Jay and Bourjos on the bench for them wouldn't shock me.

August 18, 201510 yr Mat Adams will be back next year blocking Piscotty at 1B. And theres no reason Bourjos wont be back in a reserve outfield roll.
August 18, 201510 yr Mat Adams will be back next year blocking Piscotty at 1B. And theres no reason Bourjos wont be back in a reserve outfield roll. Matt Adams hasn't exactly earned a starting spot that should be reserved for him his numbers since all star break last year are quite ugh. i don't care about bourjos. He can play defense but he can't hit and runs the bases like a jackass often. Id rather move on. But it is what it is.
August 18, 201510 yr Matt Adams, in his best days, isn't an every day player anyway. stlcardinalsbaseball.com
