The Marlins are a bad team.  I'm surprised they have as many wins as they do.  I have no doubt they will finish 10+ games under .500 for the year.  Their pitching simply isn't good enough and they don't hit enough home runs to consistently score runs.

How about the Twins hitting 7 Homeruns in this series and we have ZERO? That sucks. You know Chen is gonna give up the home runs and the ball seems to carry pretty good in that park. We just didn't keep adding on, that was the real issue. We came back from a 4-0 deficit but failed to keep going.

We go up to 4 over .500 and then back to 1 over .500 and then we win a couple games to get back to 3 games over.

Expect Mathis to get the start tonight. I won't even mind that with the DH going who should be Stanton.

Don't think I've actually seen a game yet this year in which Chen has pitched. It's a pretty dire state when I'm only expecting a win 2/5 games (Jose and Conley) and fear the worst in the other 3.

i don't get why Chen has been pretty shitty for us either considering he played in the AL East and was more than respectable.   Like someone else said maybe he has some sort of nagging injury that's hindered him but hasn't been enough to keep him from staying out of the lineup.  He took that liner in the opener, that's the only thing I can think of although obviously injuries don't even have to come from contact but he has been pretty much a #4 all season.

I'll accept they're .500 but I'll maintain my stance from a few weeks ago that they'll finish a few games above .500 because they still have the talent to get hot here and there and take 6 of 7ish every once in a while. I think we do kinda overlook that even with our struggles we're still likely a better team than we've been the last few seasons.

I'll actually say that I expect to win the Chen games too. He's not Jose but he's kept us in it more often than not. Most of the losses in his games have been for other reasons and if we'd score more runs he'd have a few more wins to his name.

definitely could be an injury...his FB velo is down 1.5 mph from last year which is a pretty big difference for a pitcher like him

was Chen just not all that good?  Some of his numbers don't seem that far off from past seasons but maybe I'm missing something.

I think I overvalued him...

Jong first noticed but his IFFB% is way below his career avg. 3.7% compared to 11% (14% last year). With this many innings that's a huge deal. he's also never been hit this hard in his career (hard hit % 34% and med 51%). Velo drop could be part of it or as Jong noted, could be the marlins telling him to do something that isn't working, or parts of both.

Que??

Stats are made up daily, there are so many that there's a stat to prove someone is awful and a stat to prove someone is great.

infield fly ball % is hardly made up bossman. just as relevant as groundball or flyball
