Marlins interested in Mark Reynolds and Chris Carter

If we could sign one of them, I'll really like it. But Marlins will offer a split or minor league contract to them definitely.

Just a hunch I'm gonna say false. One way or another these guys are major leaguers. If they want them they'll offer major league contracts because I'm sure these guys will have major league offers from other teams.

Reynolds had some uncharacteristic struggles against left-handed pitching in 2016 with the Rox, and isn’t a true lefty masher; rather, he’s had roughly even splits over the course of his big league career. Still, Reynolds’ lifetime .233/.346/.445 batting line against lefties would be an improvement over what the team can realistically expect for Bour, who has batted .223/.273/.291 in 110 career PAs against lefties.

he's an absolutely terribler Ofer

He makes Logan Morrison look like a Golden Glove outfielder!

I guess he could play 3rd base in a pinch  hmmm-min.png

he also strugged off and on in 2015 v lefties with the Cardinals.

"But there are strong indications Miami is pretty much at its payroll limit, which projects to be more than $110 million. Allocating a guaranteed contract of more than $5 million to any position player at this point appears unlikely."

I really didn't know what's the difference between the $110 million and $115 million in the payroll, especially when you know it's your last investment in the off-season.

We would very likely start JT at 1B vs LHP.

So,have no off day for JT just because Loria want to save some money !? not surprised at all.

Get me carter and call it an offseason.

People have been calling it an offseason here since the world series ended.

i'll take Bour over either of those guys (Bour still only has a tiny sample size of something like 100 total AB's against lefties over the last three seasons) Also, Carter and Reynolds have both been garbage against lefties the last two seasons.   Utter waste of money.

I think going with four bench players and eight relief pitchers were just conflicted, because you just need more bench players to do the double switch when you use more bullpen pitchers, right ?

Get Reynolds. Carter wont sign up for a part time gig. Go with the five men bench. If insisting on a four men bench let rojas start in AAA. With this lineups injury history and the lack of run scoring well be needing some pop off the bench.

Who plays backup shortstop if Rojas is in AAA? Rojas is virtually locked in to a roster spot because he backs up Hech.

4 bench players handicaps Mattingly a lot especially in extra inning games. We have already seen Mattingly HAVE TO use Rojas as a defensive replacement in like 80% of games. He does this and he will run out of players regularly; pinch hitting Chen in extras lol

I think the Marlins are set on opening the season with Urena on the roster. They don't want to lose him for nothing after what happened with Brad Hand (even though he had 15 chances).

So what are you trying to say because you say they won't do a 4 man bench but you say they'll keep Urena... problem is that the way the roster is constructed right now the only way they keep Urena is by using a 4 man bench as 12 pitchers already have major league contracts.
