It may also mean no alternates whatsoever, like the Yankees. Not sure I'd like that. I understand staying traditional but an alternate here and there isn't a bad thing either as long as it's not overdone. Totally guessing on this one though of course.

Didn't the orange batting helmet last for like one game?  It was way back at the beginning - I remember Jose Reyes wearing it once.

 

They wore it for one preseason game with the black jersey. One of the worst combinations they could have done. I still think the best look this new brand has had is the white home with the orange socks and hat.

Yes there's a fine line between traditional and boring especially for a 90s expansion team that started with a load of teal and ended with a multi colored logo. Can't just scale back to one color plus white and a bunch of boringness now.

 

And yes orange hats with the white jersey is a huge missed opportunity.

Ironically, according to the MLB style guide, the orange hat is "supposed to be" paired with the orange jersey. This is why in video games the 2 orange items are paired together on the default uniform settings...

I remember that and then wondered why the Marlins didn’t take advantage of that and continue to use it. I quickly realized we were the Marlins.

 

 

Don’t like the smaller logo at all. But I’m more bummed it looks like we won’t be using orange anymore. I really liked that the Marlins and Dolphins had similar colors and I love orange.

Those guys are such snobs when it comes to uniforms.  I’m sure you know that. They don’t like anything that’s not from established 50 year plus franchises especially any team that tries to be different but they also diss any team that tries to look traditional if they are an expansion team. I loved our old Cap logo jersey as an alternate and still think that logo was excellent.

I'd like to see it back.  I could go any direction on the hat.  Most teams have very simple initials on their cap.  With Cleveland moving to the block C full time next season that leaves only Baltimore and Toronto with a non City initial cap.  Seattle has a compass on their S.  Very simple though.  I think taking the current M and making it teal would work.  Also, using the old cap’s F font and making it an M would work too.  Which do you guys think looks better (assuming you are pro teal)? I know we had a BP cap with the script M at one point.  I preferred the block F font.  It isn’t out of the ordinary to have different fonts on the cap and the jersey.  Lots of teams do this

I love the combinations of old and new and the concepts are fun to look at but I strongly believe Jeter comes up with something completely new and 200% devoid of anything from 2012-present day and if there's any influence from past uniforms it only comes in the use of black and teal.

Way better. None of the colors on the M should be the same color as the background, as it makes it look as if that spot is clear and you can just see through it to see the background color.
