October 22, 20187 yr Bringing in the Mesa’s is Jeter’s first positive move. It also makes the non-Barraclough trade at the deadline sting a little less knowing we got $1,000,000 in Int’l money for him that allowed these signings to happen. This is the first positive thing about Jeter that I can say since he took over, so congrats to him for getting it done.
October 22, 20187 yr This is good, Erick. I do wonder what the team was asking for back in early July [or at the deadline] for Barraclough. In early July, the trade for whatever we were asking would have been more fair or made more sense, but once he imploded in July, then obviously not. Possibly it was a top prospect + IFA money?
October 22, 20187 yr Honestly the fairest thing I can say to anyone who truly dislikes what Jeter is doing with the Marlins is that hopefully the worst/lowest point has passed and that the goal is that every day is only a step forward towards success. Today definitely feels like a clear step forward.
October 22, 20187 yr Yeah it was a good move and most definitely a step in the right direction. This off season has been off to a great start. Looking forward to the new Logo and the changes in the ballpark.

If you look at it as we got the two Mesa’s for Barraclough, it’s certainly makes you (or at least me lol) feel better. Because Victor Victor is a top prospect already and the younger brother has some potential too. We probably wouldn’t have gotten a better prospect than Victor Victor anyway even when Barraclough had an ERA under 1.

October 22, 20187 yr And a new logo coming soon. Things really looking up in Miami. Says the guy with the 25 year old logo as his avatar.
October 22, 20187 yr Says the guy with the 25 year old logo as his avatar. Sorry that the old one is so much better than the current one. I’ll change it to the new when it comes to satisfy you.

October 22, 20187 yr All in all, I got no complaints about the new ownership. I knew things weren't going to be perfect, never will be (unrealistic expectation), but they seem to be serious about the baseball side of things. That's all I ask. It's a work in progress, so I'm not expecting them to be any good on the field any time soon. But I think they're on the right track.
October 22, 20187 yr why Jeter getting all the credit? don't forget the best of the best of GMs Marlins counts with

October 22, 20187 yr not only tdid we get VV and VM Jr with that money, but barraclough has falling apart next year written all over him. His velocity has dipped significantly since he first came up and nationals have terrible luck with relievers.

October 22, 20187 yr While I'm glad they are spending money on international signings (something we never did under Loria), I would like to see them actually add to the MLB level this offseason but it sounds like that is not happening. There are so many glaring holes that need to be filled but I have very low expectations.

If we were one or two pieces away from contending, then I'd say it'll certainly be this season, but that's obviously not the case, so, next off-season.

There are so many glaring holes that need to be filled but I have very low expectations. Why do you want them to add pieces to the 2019 team? Do you think they're a few pieces away from contending in 2019? The Mesas and the rest of minor league system is the way you fill the holes on the MLB roster long term. It wont help much in 2019 but, at least on paper, all of these moves are to contribute down the line.

October 23, 20187 yr make up your mind man I think it was pretty clear that I was saying the 2019-2020 off-season will be the one to spend. "It's not going to be this off-season, but next year might be the time." Next year being next off-season. "If we were one or two pieces away ... it'd be this off-season." If statement does not make my opinion. Gonna punch your face, sir.
