So is there a game or not? If the Mets decide to not take the field then the marlins should win by forfeit. Fuck that shit.

No game, it was postponed. It was a mutual decision apparently.

That would send more of a message to me than just deciding "hey guys, we're not going to play tonight......but we'll play the game later in the season, so really nothing is happening, let's just look like we're doing something".

Pretty sure they both agreed not to play. We don’t need the backlash from demanding a forfeit anyway.

At the end of the day, guys ...

And please ... remember this.

It's just a game. There are more important things in life than games.

Not with the  people that disagree it doesn't.  I had already stopped watching the Heat for the rest of this season because of stuff like this. I love baseball too much to do it with baseball but they just pushed me one step closer.  This accomplishes nothing but deepen the divide and the animosity.

I'm with this - this makes me want to tune out and not pay attention at all.

You're right, 100% this is gonna piss a lot of people off... but that's a risk they'll take because it means they made everyone think about this.

Nobody gets pissed off if they just wear a special t shirt and then go play the game.

No wonder Donnie had Lew at leadoff. He knew there would be no game.

That and slightly more symbolism. Take it how you will.

Really? Some people still get pissed off about T-shirt’s.

It’s not about the game. It’s about being bullied into opinions and politicizing every aspect of our lives.

And after so many situations of, "if you want to protest, do it peacefully, no wait no not like that or like that or that way or like that," what more can they do? This was peaceful, it sends a statement. Gets the point across. "Pay attention."

People are going to be upset no matter what you do, so why not do what you feel is right?

Folks are complaining, asking "what good will this do?" Well here we are on this forum, talking about social justice instead of the Marlins for the first time in... Ever?

Yeah, sports is meant to be a break from reality, a fun escape. But right now, we need some reality.

Politics in sports has been around for fucking ever.

Deal with it.

Nobody is forcing your opinion. And I will beg you to look beyond the politicization of this. This is much larger than that.

I've been on this site for 16 years. More than half of my life.

And I can tell you. Yes. First time.

Only black player position player, it was on purpose.

About a forfeit, can't forfeit if both teams agreed to this. If the Marlins accept a forfeit win it would look like they don't agree to protest and this don't agree with the message and that's an even bigger problem.

Yeah that would obviously have been an awful idea.

Every gesture matters, no matter how grand or small.

Kaepernick took a knee 4 years ago. Today entire leagues stop play for a couple of days during the playoffs. Shit like this gains momentum and grows in scale.

Correct.

Let's see what happens next.

Gotta say, walking off the field to return to it tomorrow wearing the Jackie Robinson uniforms is actually pretty cool considering the message.
