I disagree. To me this feels like a roster crunch for opening day mostly because Rojas is still a starter. If Jazz slides over to SS soon then Isan could still come up later in 2021 and take over at 2B.

I dont.  It screams to me that the Marlins need to work on other options at 2b long term either within the organization or outside the organization that isnt named Isan Diaz.

Funny how I was right on this.  Two years ago I was right on this one.  Weird.  

Harrison getting sent out is also not good as well. 

Why can’t the solution involve Miguel Rojas?

There's not a realistic spot on the team right now with Marte, Duvall, Dickerson all getting starts and Sierra, Berti, and maybe Brinson on the bench. Sending him to AAA isn't bad right now.

Other than he is 25 years old and cant crack a Major League roster, you're right, no big deal.

So? He can play and he’s actually a leader on the team.

Even if the solution is that Jazz has to move to SS long-term, Rojas can be the 2B and perform just fine at a likely affordable cost.

I’d say he’s more in the long term plans than young Isan at this point, which I’m sure you would agree with considering you’ve always hated Isan for some reason.

Rojas and the Marlins should come to a mutual agreement that he keep signing 1 year deals here and whenever he’s ready to retire, he can take over as manager. 
 

He’s basically become the Marlins version of Udonis Haslem except he can still play.

Because there's not a realistic spot for him on the roster right now. They see him as an everyday player in the future and would rather him get consistent at bats. Not going to happen with the roster as constructed.

Das is half right. The reason why we had to sign Duvall is because Harrison has proven in his time in the big leagues that we can’t count on him yet. And he is 25 so it is concerning.

I'm sure he could crack the roster of a shit team, like the Marlins of 2018 or the present day Cardinals. But the Marlins have added and added -- Dickerson, Marte, Duvall, Aguilar (pushing Cooper to part-time OF). It's a good problem to have. Good teams call up prospects when the prospects are destroying the minors, not when the team has a gap.

Correct. Monte hasn't proven himself ready at the majors yet and that sucks but I'm ecstatic that my team isn't waiting on him and are instead bringing in other options.

Are we so sure that Miggy Ro is gone after this season? He does have a vesting option for 2022 if he gets to 500 PA. If he is the starting SS, then he is almost certainly getting there unless the team manipulates his playing time or he gets hurt. So unless he gets traded, he should still be under contract next year with the Marlins.

I meant it's unlikely that Rojas starts after this season. I could be wrong but I feel like 2022 is Jazz's year at SS. If Miggy is here he moves positions or is a bench guy.

That’s our captain, he’ll be back. I’d be upset if Miggy Ro wasn’t with the Marlins next season.

Rojas can play 2B. He’s great defensively at every infield position.

Maybe we can trade Isan to the Cardinals?

Even more than that, he can be a super utility infielder and clubhouse captain long after Chisholm and Diaz and Diaz are running out there with Anderson. I imagine they're 100% planning to make that option vest.
