If the starting pitcher is in the lineup as the DH, he will remain as the DH when removed from the mound. This rule, I like.
SongInTheAir
still absolutely hate the Manfred runner in the 10th inning. At least start it in the 12th or something and give the teams a chance to play real baseball for a couple of extra innings
fanofthefish
They did the expanded rosters in 1990 when they had a lockout that shortened spring training, I absolutely hate the Manfred runner! Total B. S.
SilverBullet
So if the starting pitcher is in the lineup he actually is the DH, that's interesting.

With the DH now a thing, doesn't every lineup have to have a DH? Didn't realize they could make a lineup and choose to not have a DH.

A pitcher is a pitcher but is also a DH. A 1B is just a 1B.

FishFan95
It seems like at least 90% of fans hate the Manfred ghost runner in extras and yet the majority of journalists and broadcasters seem to like it. What gives? Edited March 23, 2022 by FishFan95

What gives? Gets regular season games over quicker. For journalists allows them to meet their deadlines especially if writing for a traditional media outlet.  When you are there 150-160 games a year, a long drawn out 13,14 et al inning game can just drain you. Really no need for those games in this day and age during the regular season honestly.

I don't think there's really a need for most things. Doesn't mean it makes sense to remove them. This rule is lame, and another shitty mark left by Manfred. I hope it's not adopted beyond next year.
