I could understand sending DLC if it was for Floro (doesn't mean I would agree with it), but Nance? Especially with Wendle day to day. Why?

Wendle is in tonight's lineup which means he is in fact alive.

I have seen 2 suggestions as to what might be going on. It is either to add length to the pitching staff because the starters have not been going deep into games or the Marlins are cooking up a trade for an outfielder. Probably the first one, but we can dream...

Laureano suspension is up this weekend. We can dream.

Why the love for this guy? doing some research on  him and honestly  not all that impressed. Would rather just stick with DLC

definitely wouldn’t  trade a good prospect for him.

He is a 4.7 WAR/Per 600 PA player for his career. That is elite. I don't think he is that, but he should be a very solid 2.5-3.5 WAR player (which then trickles down to better LF defense, and better 1B and DH production being able to sort out the 3 bats on splits better). Very high floor with his defense and he hits lefties which is important. He is also controlled for 3 seasons and will be cheap. There is a major dearth of CF talent at the MLB level so getting one is tough.

This is from Fangraphs:

....He’s far from a perfect hitter, but his decent approach, plus (and still growing) power, and above-average speed all make up for some swing-and-miss tendencies that limit his hit tool. It all adds up to around an .800 OPS, which Laureano buoys with his center field defense; it’s average in terms of range but he has an arm that is an absolute game changer. He’s a good-not-great player who is under team control for three more years at what should be a very team-friendly price, and as we’re seeing as this year’s trade deadline approaches, everyday center fielders of value are a rare commodity. Laureano is one of those players who can help win a game in such a wide variety of ways that the whole is greater than the sum of the parts... https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2021-trade-value-31-to-40/

Are Brandon Marsh and Bryan Reynolds better ideas? Yes. But this is a more plausible one. I invite any. It should have happened in March.

I don’t see why you’d make this move if a trade is happening, when presumably neither are involved?

Damn that came quickly, we survived with Sanchez until now and we're at least around .500, would be nice to finally make this move and at least look like we're trying to get better.

Honestly, I feel like at this point they'll say there's "no room" for Laureano or Reynolds. Garcia and Soler aren't getting benched, neither is Jeezy. Aguilar and Cooper take up the DH spot. So there's "no room" for a new CF. (Disregard that all of the guys we currently have are inferior baseball players.)

Yep. That's my thought too. They really really effed themselves by getting Soler as well after already getting Garcia just to prove Jeter wrong basically and in doing so they really effed over how easy it should have been to upgrade the team. Getting Laureano forces a chain reaction of several moves down the line and we've seen how well Ng manages more than one thing at a time

She'll get around to trading Soler two years after his contract.

"We'll send you Soler for..."

"Kim..."

"Yeah, so we'll send Soler over if you..."

"Kim...Soler isn't on your team anymore. He's been in the KBO for two years, batting .190 with 30 home runs and 400 strikeouts"

If Laureano is acquired then Sanchez has to play...first? Which means Ng has to trade or dfa (lose) either Cooper or Aguilar which is dumb. Plus that all but eliminates Lewin being brought up too.

Sanchez plays LF, Soler to DH, Cooper or Aguilar traded anyways.

Basically what Lou has been saying over and over. Lol

I believe the Dodgers had interest in Cooper, might be an idea to kick those tires again.
