Wow just thinking now, imagine if the Marlins were a handful of games better and really in the race and were serious buyers today... would Kim have been able to actually add to the team today?

Honestly, I'm ok with the Dolphins losing a pick or two here. It means they really really tried to build a winner and swing for the fences. They missed, and instead sat on the knob end of the bat, but atleast it wasn't the barrel.

Yankees really know when to give up on prospects and when to hold them. If you're getting prospects from the Yankees you better believe their ceiling is replacement level position player or 4/5 starter.

I can't think of a single yankees prospect who amounted to anything outside of NYY Pinstripes.

I feel the same way. If they were interested in spending even a crumb of cash this offseason properly, they had players who could have brought some value back in return.

We have enough SP prospects to flip for a real deal position prospect. Reynolds or Marsh would have been nice too.

Shit, trading for salary dumps, a bit of cash and prospects would have been nice too. Maybe even a rumor they tried to offer a fucking ridiclous overpay for Soto and were denied.

The trade deadline just came at a bad time of the month. Usually its a few days earlier. Might not have updated her calendar and thought it was just another Tuesday.

Bingo, You gave up a 1st and 3rd to try to get a HOF QB and HOF Coach? Not a bad trade, especially considering this was before Brady won again in TB. We could have had three years and some hope down here.

I think McDaniel with Tua and the revamped offense will take this team places. Tua worked a bunch on arm strength this offseason, let's see if it paid off.

Man I didn't read this thread last night and the takes are really bad and emotional here because of frustration. The sky isn't falling because Pablo wasn't traded. Jesus.

This is the best take here - No point in trading Pablo Lopez just to trade Pablo Lopez tbh.

If there was not a deal it's a no deal. He has 2 years of control. Castillo/Berrios got great packages with less control Pablo will have this offseason. It's not like he has no value. You're ignoring Castillo/Berrios trades if you think there is a problem here. He is still a top 50-75 or so asset in MLB right now. If they keep him, great. He's great. If they move him in the offseason for bats, great assuming the package is good. Some major perspective was needed. The deadline is not the only bite at the apple.

As for the rest

Aguilar sucks. He'll be on revocable waivers and moved for a guy we've never heard of in August.

Cooper, Berti, and Anderson... their injuries likely impacted their ability to be moved. But, they can also do it in the offseason or maybe keep 1-2 of them. To note, I am wondering if the reason to keep Cooper is also lower confidence in Lewin that he can't cut it. They don't have much else besides Berry for a system 1B so Cooper may actually be a NEED. I think I'd roll the dice with Lewin and go for a June upgrade next year if needed, but we'll see what happens here.

So then we get to Wendle/Rojas. It seems like they too will get lopped into the group above. I can't imagine they open camp with all of Berti/Anderson/Wendle/Rojas as Luke Williams seems like a totally fine backup and Groshans will likely come up next year 1-3 months into the season, but maybe the hesitation is injuries with the knowledge that everyone has CONTROL and they'll likely get the same deal in the offseason. These guys aren't world beaters.

So then we get to Soler and Garcia and no one is taking those contracts

And then finally, Floro/Scott/Okert/Bleier/other RP. I was figuring they would trade 3-4 relievers and bank on the longterm view, but they ending up trading 2 instead. Considering Pop had the most control of the group, it kind of makes sense to keep the rest. These guys all have control in the offseason so they can move someone then. This is a little annoying as you'd imagine a slightly better prospect for a RP especially at the deadline, but at the end of the day do we care about a better FV40 prospect versus a normal FV40 prospect? That's the rub here. None of these guys are throwing like Bass/have Pop's control to get someone better.

Basically, some of you expecting this to be "fixed" overnight set yourself up with unrealistic expectations. We should frankly be happy relievers turned into Groshans and a DUMB move wasn't made. Groshans has zip projections for just over 300 PA in 23/24 at 1.2-1.6 WAR. That's a 2+ WAR projection over 500 PA, and if the power returns do the math. Good bet here.

The problem for me is - we are setting up for the same offseason. This is the definition of insanity. Where is the CF and are they going to buy/trade for at least 1 more major bat upgrade somewhere else? Have they learned anything and/or is Bruce going to let the FO do anything? These are the big questions IMO, but practically, they have till April 1st as this season is over.

Would it be better to undersell 4-5 guys on the team to open up cash, or just keep them and not undersell? That's what I'm reading with your first sentence. I say keep them and don't undersell as even if you have money to spend this offseason with or without them, you may not be able to sign a player as you're not the only suitor. You can always trade those guys in the offseason if you do land the "Nimmo" level player.

Also I agree completely on Marsh - maybe LAA wanted that guy specifically though, but for the price, it would be nice to see some sort of attempt at a longterm CF.

Also agree - they should have traded for guys like Hosmer and Myers and ate some cash from someone else to buy an extra prospect or three. Bruce might need a history lesson than paying Mike Hampton to not pitch for the Marlins created a championship.

However they are going to be right unless there are wholesale changes come this offseason. Minimum 2+ major bat upgrades. Yesterday was just not the line in the sand for that though.

We're angry that out of all the parts that could have and should have been sent into space and likely received offers - nothing else happened. I am glad they kept Pablo if a good offer didn't present itself. I am not happy they did basically nothing else, which was reminiscent of the off-season.
