Him being there for Jose's death, the covid season (both the outbreak and the postseason run) were major and I think that personal connection to the fans in those times are always going to be significant for us. Can't take those moments away from what he did here.

Man I can't believe he's been there since Jose died. That seems like eons ago.

I also remember him doing a pop up slide to join the team photo during their magic COVID run after they made the playoffs. Not sure why that always stuck with me, but I'll bet most managers can't pull that off.

Are we getting a Don lookalike that manages the club just as badly for this "Don 'Tribute' Mattingly"?

I’ll always remember Donnie fondly for pulling his car over on the side of the road and signing a bat I just bought earlier that day back in the 90’s during spring training. Thanks Donnie.

My favorite Don Mattingly moment was when I heard that the Marlins signed him as their new manager and I remember thinking about how cool it was to have a high profile manager sign with the Marlins and was excited and full of hope that he would bring some of that winning from the Dodgers to the Marlins.. as if any manager can do that on his own.

Yep. That 2020 was a real "team" for sure. Scrappy and played it's butts off with the talent they did have. I'll choose to remember Don from that season.

Mike Hill doesnt get nearly the credit he deserves for how he maneuvered that roster after the strip club 3am parties.
