Marlins Sign Johnny Cueto

Featured Replies

Getting kinda horny over here after Segura and now this.  Is this a real thing?

At 2am???

Wait a minute, does this explain why Kim Angst has so much trouble getting things done?

 Is she nocturnal?

Kim is up in the middle of the night trying to make signings and trades while everyone else is asleep.

She waits for phone calls cuz no one seems to answer her calls during the night.

When she goes to bed during the day several agents and GMs respond to her calls and offers but since she's not awake they pivot to others and get deals done.

Thankfully Johnny Cueto was up late last night grinding in Call of Duty I guess?

We had to go and hire a vampire as GM, damnit.

This is actually one of the most proactive (aka non Marlins) moves in a while as they actually made a move one or two steps ahead of their next potential move.

We all know the typical thing would have been to save this for after the trade, then the trade takes forever and ultimately Cueto signs elsewhere and then "oh we tried" to sign a veteran starter.

So that's at least nice to see.

Good job, exactly what I wanted, one year with a club option is perfect. This works for us if he's bad, if he's good and we want to keep him, or if he's good and needs to be trade bait.

I know right.  It's unusual to see us thinking ahead, and actually getting the guy.

Now I fully expect him to fall on his face and have a 6.70 ERA because that'd be a Marlins thing to happen.

That was my first reaction too but then I had to remind myself that they’ve actually been capable of bringing the best out of their starters since Mel came on board lol
