He was never going to pitch a full season anyway due to innings limitations.

Might as well just limit his innings in the first part of the season instead of just shutting him down later I guess.

159.2 innings last season, 125 combined in 2022, around the same in 2021.

If he had a limit, it would have been around 200, which he very likely would not hit anyways.
