Scott O. vs. Joe G.
A boss should NEVER grab an employee. Joe Girardi was wrong and owes Olsen a public apology. That being said, Scott Olsen better grow up fast.

Nolasco > Juan Pierre.
Let's not overrate one game but is there any question that Nolasco, Mitre & Pinto are greater that JP? Definitly a deal worth doing. Remember what many were saying.....MORE pitchers?

RUMOR: Marlins are shopping Dontrelle
If I were these teams I'd be scouting Willis. I'd also be scouting Livian Hernandez and Mark Redman and Barry Zito and Mark Hendrickson. If teams wanna line up and outbid one another for Willis, go for it. And if they wanna overpay, make the deal. When I say overpay that means enough to cover the loss of an ace, the loss of an inexpensive contract, the loss of a crowd favorite and the loss of the face of the organization.

Vargas sent down
Though I feel bad for Vargas this is a solid move to make. He obviously has fallen off his game and is doing something wrong mechanically or has lost confidence and needs to regain it. Jason never seemed to be a pitcher with control problems and now he can't seem to find the plate. He'll be back.... Funny, Vargas was sent down today because they probably expected he would be needed for long relief with Moehler on the mound Starters: Willis, Johnson, Olsen, Nolasco, Moehler Pen: Borowski, Herges, Wellemyer, Messenger, Petit, Pinto, Kensing DL: Mitre, German It will be interesting to see who is sent down if the newbies do well.

Can the Marlins Break the Record this season?
I'll stick to what I projected before the start of the season: First 54 games of season: 30% - 16 wins Middle 54 games of season: 50% - 27 wins Last 54 games of season: 35% - 19 wins That's 62 wins.

Crazy trade rumors from other message boards
Because of his age, current stats, growth potential, contract status and salary Miguel Cabrera could bring more in a trade than most any player in the game today. These insane rumors are just that.

Willingham happy to be in LF
Maybe Joe is finally checking out mb.com Vargas to the pen is an excellent move. Next is Moehler in exchange for Nolasco.

Anyone worried about Mike Jacobs?
Okay, this is a bad dream right? I won't rehash Friday's night's mistakes by Joe but guess what, he did it again! - Jacobs again starts and again leaves more men on base (4) than anyone else on the team. - Helms again does not bat against the Rox lefty closer, Fuentes. Again he faces Mesa who he is now 0-8 against. - Amezaga should have pinch hit in the 8th against the righty but instead was used as a PR in the 9th. Why not Reed? Because Reed was used as a pinch hitter earlier in the game. Joe knew that if Helms got out in the 8th, Jacobs would probably be batting in the 9th. How does he not plan for this? Why does he keep running out of players come the 9th inning? Yesterday's game ended with the bat in Reed's hands and tonight's game ended with the bat in Abercrombie's hands. Also, for those that wanna say...hey Jacobs got on base....true, but he is a # 5 hitter and walked on a close 3-2 pitch. His job at # 5 is to drive the runner in....ESPECIALLY knowing what's coming up behind him. Not for a minute will I try to act like I can out manage Girardi....but I do think I can say that so far his in-game management has been dreadful of late.

jacobs leaves two runners on already
But will any at bat be a hit?
-
marlins sign lhp joe horgan
1.74 lifetime WHIP...blech! He is a lefty tho

Anyone worried about Mike Jacobs?
Someone in the media needs to ask Joe baseball questions and get past the fluff articles. I know I am beating a dead horse but I just need to summarize today's game. - Helms does not start versus Francis even tho he is 3-5 lifetime with 2 doubles and 1 HR. He is also batting 400+ this season versus lefties. - Helms does not pinch hit for Jacobs in a key spot in the game. - Helms does not make an appearance against Ray King, a lefty. - Helms is used as a pinch hitter against Jose Mesa, a righty even though he is 0-6 lifetime against. - We use Matt Cepicky as a PH but we use Eric Reed as a PR. Why not use Reed as a PH and not use two batters? If you say its because Reed can't hit... - The game ended with Reed at bat. Jacobs 6 runners LOB...Reed now batting .087. Someone needs to get Joe to explain why he is fighting statistics.

Anyone worried about Mike Jacobs?
Hot Corner...I have one better. Who is at bat 5th bottom of 9th? Jacobs. How do you not use him against Francis or Ray King...and then use him against Mesa....when Fuentes their closer is possibly going to face Jacobs? Three lefty pitchers...one righty....and he gets Helms versus the righty. Not Good!
-
Anyone worried about Mike Jacobs?
1st and 3rd 2 outs and Hurdle brings in Ray King to face Jacobs. Does Joe send up Helms? Nope! Result....0 runs!
-
Anyone worried about Mike Jacobs?
Jacobs last season had 5 at bats versus lefties, 95 versus righties. This season: Jacobs .188 vs lefties (3-16) - .200 vs righties Helms vs. lefties .444 average (4-9) - .273 vs righties Helms lifetime versus Jeff Francis 3-5 w/2 doubles and 1 hr Who does Girardi start? Jacobs. What does Jacobs do with the bases loaded versus Francis? There comes a time when Joe needs to dismiss this notion that players don't need to be platooned....ever! In this case we have a player on the bench hitting over .400 versus lefties and .600 against Francis....no reason Helms should not have started tonight.

Moving Willis by deadline makes sense
What's funnier is this. Put this article away and 'if' we trade Willis midseason ya wanna bet Kenny boy writes an article titled "The Firesale Continues" I am not totally against dealing Dontrelle (see A.J. Burnett and Carl Pavano) for the right package of players but you wanna send him to the Brewers? Then send Prince Fielder back in return. Want him in AZ? Send us Quentin and Connor Jackson for Willis and Jacobs. I am not for dealing Willis but if a team wants to empty their farm system or deal us what is considered a top 10 prospect +, I'd listen....you have to. Anyone here acting as if there is zero chance is fooling themselves....look what we have seen....anything is possible.

Can anyone answer this question
This should answer your question. In summary, yes..George (just as other teams have done or will do) have found a way to turn their revenue payments in to a new stadium.

Assuming Reed is demoted
Reds designated infielder Tony Womack for assignment. A complete waste of $1.1 million, money that could have been used to try for a reliever better than Rick White or Chris Hammond. The Reds will attempt to trade Womack, but it's likely that he'll just become a free agent. Maybe the Cardinals will want him back. Womack's departure leaves the Reds with one less player to challenge Brandon Phillips for at-bats at second base. Apr. 24 - 3:59 pm et Tony Womack for our team may be a solid pickup. He can play 2B and OF, has speed, makes contact and is a veteran. Girardi was with Womack on the Yanks so I am sure he has thoughts one way or the other. Assuming the Reds picked up his salary (most of it) I think the Marlins should look in to this.

Marlins are a lot better than people think
WOW 6th best ERA I can't believe it. They just need to have eveything working at once and they'll be fine. A young team doesn't mean a bad one. If we were just able to get Gathright we'd be in good shape Batting Jason Repko AVG .333 | HR 2 | RBI 9 | OBP .424 | SLG .569 Gathright AVG .239 | HR 0 | RBI 2 | OBP .364 | SLG .283 Abercrombie AVG .211 | HR 1 | RBI 4 | OBP .250 | SLG .342 Pierre AVG .278 | HR 0 | RBI 2 | OBP .297 | SLG .347 Fielding: Jason Repko .914 Zone Rating Joey Gathright .903 Zone Rating Reggie Abercrombie .889 Zone Rating Juan Pierre .872 Zone Rating Zone rating. The percentage of balls fielded by a player in his typical defensive "zone," as measured by STATS, Inc. Believe me I am not saying Abercrombie is the answer...I am just saying I don't believe Gathright is the answer either. Jason Repko is young enough and cheap enough but getting L.A. to give him up is another story.

Best/Worst Trade.
It's still very early to judge the value of each trade but.....it's never too early to judge the value of each trade!!
