  1. Hanley batted .190 in June and .244 in July so far. Its about time he was taken out of the top spot.
  2. I guess in my #5 OF'er I want as few mistakes as possible. Reggie is mistakes in the field and on the basepaths.
  3. Chris Aguila - OF - Marlins Triple-A Albuquerque's Chris Aguila went 4-for-4 with a homer and two steals on Wednesday. If Cody Ross is going to keep playing center field, the Marlins would be better off with Aguila on their bench and Reggie Abercrombie in Triple-A. Aguila is hitting .306/.358/.471 in 157 at-bats in the minors. Jul. 27 - 3:18 pm et Sorry...not that our 5th OF'er debate should receive a thread of its own but just because he has been out of the lineup is no reason not to continue the push of Reggie to AAA.

  6. Girardi was laughed at for taking this job. We heard how management had to mislead him. Well, these are his boys. This is his team. Uggla is his project. Getting Olsen's head in line...that's Girardi's doing. Developing this young bullpen, that is Joe's. I would be shocked if he wanted to leave after one season. There are some traits of Girardi's I don't love....namely his loyalty to what he insists has to work (IE: Jacobs versus lefties and Reggie vs. anyone) but that same loyalty will keep him with HIS team IMO.
  7. So you think they sit around their pre-show roundtable and make a concertive effort not to discuss the Florida Marlins? Come on guys...it's a business....they program for successful ratings.
  8. Hahahaha....naaaa! That would have the The Sultan of Swat!
  9. Three rookie starters have a chance do something that hasn't been done in the Major Leagues since the 1952 Brooklyn Dodgers. If Josh Johnson, Scott Olsen and Ricky Nolasco each win 10 or more games this season, it will be the first time three rookies in the same rotation reach double-digits in victories since that old Brooklyn squad. The 1952 Dodgers featured rookie 10-game winners Joe Black (15-4), Billy Loes (13-8) and Ben Wade (11-9). That team reached the World Series, losing to the Yankees in seven games. Johnson brings an 8-5 record into a Thursday start. Olsen is 7-4, and Nolasco is 7-6.
  10. Pitching and defense wins games
  11. Jeremy Hermida has the second highest OBP on the team. That is NEVER a bad thing. The only thing wrong with Hermida is where he bats in the lineup. He has not been clutch I agree, but why fight it? Let's embrace what he does do well and slot him in the lineup where it makes the most sense for today. Remember in Spring Training Hermida was slotted as our # 2 hitter. I'd love to see him bat third (where I think he eventually ends up) but based on two simple stats here is the lineup that should be used. Hermida OBP .381 | SLG .430 Uggla OBP .362 | SLG .498 Jacobs OBP .357 | SLG .522 Cabrera OBP .424 | SLG .553 Willingham OBP .351 | SLG .468 Hanley OBP .335 | SLG .421 Olivo OBP .313 | SLG .484 Amezaga OBP .318 | SLG .345
  12. Give Reggie a shot. Maybe he'll surprise us. One thing I do want to see him do more often is bunt. Good things usually happen when he bunts. Give him a shot? What has April - July been?
  13. Phil Garner was outmanaged alright. - Cabrera plays the field but doesn't bat? That makes no sense. Miggy should have been a PH and never seen the field IMO...not with Scott Rolen on the bench. Rolen would not have been out of position on the single in the 9th and the game would have been over. (is it possible they had Miggy gaurding the line? Possible but Garner said everyone go out there and play...no signs, no nothing) - Staying on the field..not that it meant anything but up 2-1 in the 9th wuldn't you like to have Andruw Jones in the OF somewhere instead of Carlos Lee? - Garner put Berkman(never faced Johan Santana) up as a PH instead of Nomar(3-12 lifetime 2B, 3B). In the 9th inning against Santana it might have been nice to bat Berkman(from the left side) instead of Sanchez against Rivera. Not playing Uggla for an AB, a pinch run or even an inning in the field. Shame on him...first time All Stars should get to be 'in' an All-Star Game. Miguel was not out of position. You guard the lines with 2 outs there. Rolen would have done the same. Madman...in a normal game yes but in an All-Star game...I think it's different. As you saw...the guys in back of the single smacked extra base hits. You treat the whole game like a normal game. Why switch off at the end of the game? You protect the lines in that situation. Madman, we can agree to disagree...bottom line is Rolen and Jones should have been in the game.

Rolen would not have been out of position on the single in the 9th and the game would have been over. Even if Rolen was gaurding the line he would have had a much beter chance of making the play and throwing out Konerko at first base. - Staying on the field..not that it meant anything but up 2-1 in the 9th wuldn't you like to have Andruw Jones in the OF somewhere instead of Carlos Lee? - Garner put Berkman(never faced Johan Santana) up as a PH instead of Nomar(3-12 lifetime 2B, 3B). 16. Oh you're so right! There is no way that Mitre should even be considered for a spot on the Marlins staff. He's just awful. Johnson IP 85 ERA 2.21 | WHIP 1.27 Willis IP 123 ERA 3.94 | WHIP 1.41 Olsen IP 91 ERA 4.24 | WHIP 1.26 Mitre IP 35 ERA 4.89 | WHIP 1.49 Nolasco IP 72 ERA 5.00 | WHIP 1.46 Moehler IP 77 ERA 6.84 | WHIP 1.75 Sanchez IP 15 ERA 6.60 | WHIP 1.87 Petit IP 17 ERA 7.41 | WHIP 1.71
  17. Pre-season I predicted the team would win 1/3 of their first 54 games(16wins), play .500 the second 54 games(27 wins) and drop back to 40% (21wins)in the final 54 games. 64-98 My prediction would be 32 wins at this time...they have won 38. :cheers I knew we had a good, solid team, but inexperienced...so I didn't think we'd be close to 500 at the break as well as in second place. just a sidenote...we are in 4th place.
  18. the most disheartening team of all time? How long have you been a baseball fan? My goodness.
  19. Maybe Miggy should learn English.....its been a few years now. Last I heard, 790AM was still an English language station. When Cabrera speaks (in English) I haven't a clue what he is saying.
  20. So we lost 2 games to the Red Sox and followed that up with not being ready to play the Nats.....that shocks anyone here? It will shock you that pitchers that have never pitched more than a minor league season will start to falter in August when they are asked to pitch more innings than they ever have? It will shock you that if and when the games become 'crucial' and 'playoff type' games out young players will play like...young players? The team has been outstanding. The team has shown they will be a constender real soon. Enjoying the ride and the hoping for a wild card is great. Can it happen, sure. But most likely it won't and anyone going nuts because they blew a few games is really missing the importance and reason for THIS season. That being said...Hermida bats # 3 and Reggie must go
  21. June: Hermida 1HR 8RBI 46TB .346 average .406OBA .935OPS .529SLG% (13XBH) Cabrera 3HR 11RBI 41TB .318 average .436OBA .896OPS .466SLG% (7ABH) Hermida has been dissapointing? If you say so. Let's also keep in mind that Hanley, Uggla and Jacobs bat in front of Cabrera. Hermida usually bats in front of players Treanor/Olivo, Abercrombie/Borchard.
  22. SS Hanley 2B Uggla RF Hermida 3B Cabrera 1B Jacobs LF Willingham CA Olivo / CF Ross CF Amezaga / CA Treanor
  23. FYI, if you don't mind watching on a 1 inch screen for the next 30 minutes, the game is showing on the main panel of MLB.tv Mosaic. Or just double click the box and have it in a much larger screen with the option of FULL SCREEN
  24. We're number 2! We're number 2! I don't accept second place. You don't get any trophy being at second place, especially being under .500. I was being sarcastic. Well, in all honesty....'we' don't get a trophy for first place either so why not just enjoy it?
  25. I bet if we increase payroll by $235M we can get that extra run the Yanks beat us by the first two games.
