Marlins ought to lock up McGhee for the next three years

You should've been a pro scout. You're able to determine how a 23-year old will do in his ML career after just seeing him four times. MLB teams sure missed the boat on you. I've always thought that but scouting doesn't really pay enough anyway. So I give my expertise away for free.

Heaney doesn't have that shoulder to ankles breaking ball that all nonpower lefties starters need to succeed at the ML level. Little nothing slider and a mediocre fastball. He might find a niche but he will never be a solid starter and not a number two.

All Dietrich has to do to stay in the lineup for ten years is to play well. It's all on him.

Solution is to move Dietrich to 1B. Jones has played 1B professionally for fifteen years. If he still can't make a simple toss to a pitcher, he doesn't belong on a ML field. Slick fielding First Baseman are a great asset. Marlins ought to find one.

Ozuna, hands down. Gets better at the plate each week. Terrific baseball instincts. Better lock him up.

Team offense goes with the two young outfielders. Just keep them out there and let them learn to make the continual adjustments required to succeed in the MLs. Marisnick has done nothing compared to Ozuna. He is a possible poor replacement when Stanton departs and worth nothing in the trade market. Ozuna's power gives him the chance to be something special.

Dietrich can obviously hit RH MLB pitching. Now what is left is to find out if he can hit LH pitching like he did in the minors. It it is more important to find out this about Dietrich than to find the un discoverable about Jones. Dunn is terrible 90 mph nibbler with a litle roll over slider. Absolutely no reason for him to face Uggla. This organization management reeks of stubbornness.

The real impact of the Jones, Furcal signings will be apparent soon. To avoid the coming damage the FO would have to admit making a mistake - which never happens.

Is Dietrich taking 250 grounders a day. Is Salty working on "move you body not just your hands drills?" Is Jones working on his footwork at first? I doubt any of it. Redmond does't have a confrontational bone in his body.
