  1. :hat just bear in mind, loria and samson are trying to find the solution.they want to stay.diaz and arriolla are the ones who quit.
  2. :hat i was pleasantly suprised.considering our entire infield has been replaced, and the only 2 star players were willis and cabrerra,i thought the attendance would be worse. it could always be better.but i was proud of the fans yesterday.today it's sure to drop.
  3. i doubt that that is going to help the marlins at this point now.diaz turned his back on the marlins too and he's the mayor.he defended arriolla against samson.against us. before anyone talks bad about samson just remember, samson is still trying to keep the marlins here. samson and mayor alvarez and mayor robaina ar the good guys.
  4. i usually can't stand goldberg because he is so mean and obnoxious to his callers.but he does have a valid point in hiring a proffesional to negotiate a deal.they would be in a better position i think. :hat
  5. :hat i think it will.the reason i say that is because i have learned over the years that so.florida sports fans(although they are casual from time to time)respond to a teams committment. when the marlins signed players like pudge and delgado, people bought tickets and came out to the ballpark. when the heat signed shaq, people bought tickets and filled what was once a near empty AAAarena. when the panthers were in the stanley cup in 96,remember the rubber rats they threw on the ice in response to a goal? when the marlins and miami dade reach a deal, fans will see a commitment from the team and the local polititians.they wo'n sell out in every game, but loria will start to open his wallet again, and the fans will know that the marlins are here to stay.
  6. i ordered a pair.they arrived yesterday.they're great!!!! i'm wearing them opening day!!!!
  7. :banghead the players ,yes.the organisation,nooooooooo.
  8. :notworthy vive hialeah.my future hometown.
  9. good for you.i'm sure many fans will return this year.we all know how transit players are in today's sports.
  10. www.keepthemarlins.net this kid and his family are gonna take our sigantures and bring them to mayor alvarez. he was featured in march 2.sunsentinel. let's get behind him
  11. :hat i don['t follow the redsox enough to care who they trade or who they keep.maybe samson was referring to their starters. but the redsox have their own ballpark and more money to spend on players than we do. samson is having a rough enough time with his job these days without us cutting on him. i know i couldn't do it any better.could you?
  12. :hat i sat at the town meeting.i was there and like it or not, samson was right.samson mentioned that the redsox only have 3 players left from their 2004 championship team. face it,baseball is as transit as all the other sports.players come and go. but put ouselves againsy other fan bases,we still have 2 world championships in the last 9 years. look at the astros, rockies, padres, cubs, brewers. have we forgotten how lucky we've beem. as a fan of this game for 36 years,i wake up every morning saying,we're some of the luckiest fans in baseball. we've rebuilt before,we can do it again.
  13. :hat robby nen was with us longer than benitez and he was the best securit we ever had, remember hi 102 m.p.h fastball. remember when he came in the game in game 7 of the 97 world series and kept the indians from scoring. with respects to harvey and benitez, robby nen was the BOMB!!!!!!!
  14. anything, anywhere is better than nothing at all. :whistle
  15. samson has made it clear that they prefer to stay here. selig prefers that the marlins stay here too. those 2 factors itself are the aces in the hole. the san antonio plan looks pretty.no question. they like us have to prove funding for it. we have a gap that has to be filled and it can be. this is all part of the leverage technique. :hat
  16. it does look god.but it's just a plan.we have a plan too.but the bottom line folk is,can they pay for it?????
  17. i look at it like this: wayne put's the super site on hold for now.he joins forces with the marlins and dade county to help build the marlins new ballpark.then construction begins and the necessary funds are available in case of overruns. :hat then he resumes with his plans for the supersite.he can show the banks and sponsors that the combination of 81 baseball games couples with 8 dolphin games not including playoffs, will show how many sports fans will be traveling through the area and will need his hotels and resturaunts. he will be able to borrow more mony from the banks and more sponsors will want in. that must be whya he's offering the land and the $50 million. why else would the supersite be on hold and his offer remains on the table?
  18. :banghead i'm a season ticket holder from boca raton.i want to help save the marlins too. i think we all need to suck up to huizenga and jeb bush. at least they want to negotiate.
  19. :hat thank you fishfan.i couldn't have said it better myself. huezenga told the sun sentinel that the marlins can stay at dolphins stadium after 2010. he knows he will suffer after we move out.
  20. yea fishfan79.i have a copy of the times article.i called that paper and they said that they don't have a website. i loved the article.i live in boca myself.i want the new ballpark in miami and i'll make due with that. but, what an interesting plan b this woul make.tri-rail stops right at the stadium location.dade and broward fans don't have to drive if they don't want to.. bottom line is,ANYTHING,ANYWHERE IS BETTER THAN NOTHING AT ALL!!!!! :hat
  21. :hat david samson was in the broacast booth with tommy hutton and talked about the new stadium he said "progress is being made" that is good enough for me.samson is for real.i trust him implicitly.
  22. i live in boca raton.i work in delray beach.i think the marlins belong in miami, but i also say, anything, anywhere,is better than no marlins baseabll at all. if i have to relocate to miami,i will.if thet come up this way.fine. but no matter where you live in the tri county area, consider losing them to las vegas as opposed to traveling a few more minutes to see them. :banghead
  23. :hat Three years after his initial proposal for a Major League Baseball stadium in Palm Beach County fizzled, Boynton Beach City Commissioner Muir C. "Mike" Ferguson is at it again. During the past two months, Ferguson has written to the governor and the Florida Marlins about locating a new stadium on vacant land either near Boca Raton, Lake Worth or Delray Beach. There are a few possible obstacles, he concedes. Oddly enough, in his own proposal, he allows it's "not a viable idea." Still, he said his proposal might be one of the last hopes of keeping the team from moving out of state. "Somebody has to come up with the $50 million in hard money," Ferguson said of his proposal. "I can get the rest financed." His plan calls for a joint venture with a bank and "sophisticated leveraging." It would take $500 million to build a 45,000-seat domed stadium, according to Ferguson's estimate. If his plan could win support this year, a stadium could be ready in 2008, Ferguson said. Potential sites are a 40-acre tract south of Spanish River Boulevard in Boca Raton across from Florida Atlantic University; a 65-acre piece of city land in Lake Worth north of A.G. Holley Hospital; and a 70-acre, developer-owned tract on West Atlantic Avenue at One Mile Road west of Delray Beach. Considering the ongoing cash shortfall for a new stadium in Miami, Ferguson said he is surprised his plan hasn't garnered more attention. Miami and Miami-Dade officials have pledged $166 million to a new stadium, and the Marlins agreed to pay $192 million from future stadium revenue. Parking revenue would provide an additional $32 million, for a $390 million total. That would leave $30 million unfunded. The state House passed a measure this year that would have provided the funds, but the Senate refused to consider the issue. The Marlins politely declined Ferguson's help. "Thank you very much for your proposal for a stadium in South Palm Beach County," Marlins Vice Chairman Joel Mael wrote. "At this time, we are going in a different direction." Gov. Jeb Bush's office sent the commissioner an e-mail this month stating the governor will "consider your comments and those of other Floridians" on the stadium issue. In 2002, Ferguson tried to entice Marlins officials with a proposal that suggested an unnamed California power company would offer a $350 million sponsorship for a ballpark in Boynton Beach near Gateway Boulevard and I-95. It failed to generate any support. Despite the setbacks, Ferguson said he isn't giving up hope. "We need to keep this ball team in South Florida," he said. http://www.palmbeachpost.com/politics/cont...bfish_0711.html 852336[/snapback]
