Article From The PBP
I would only trade Jacobs for someone like Baldelli. Anyone else and I wouldn't do it. If that trade happened, I would then either re-sign Helms or move Willingham to first (let's face it, he's crap in LF, first base could be his future) and sign a veteran LF.

The 2006 World Series: Detroit Tigers VS. St. Louis Cardinals
Detroit are getting spanked. 5-1, 0 out, men on 2nd and 3rd, Verlander's out.

What could have been: 1994
I figured it'd just have to do with the new teams. Seems odd though, forcing Milwaukee to go to the NL... it's a big change in philosophy in terms of game managing, pitchers having to hit, no DH, etc... seems a bit unfair to do that to a team all of a sudden.

Pardon my ignorance, but I've only been a baseball fan for a few years, can someone please explain how/why the Brewers went from the AL to the NL?

The 2006 NLCS: New York Mets VS. St. Louis Cardinals
Already giving the Mets the series 8 innings into game 1? *sigh* I gave them this series three days ago when the match-up was known. *nods*

The 2006 NLCS: New York Mets VS. St. Louis Cardinals
Detroit are the only team that could stop the Mets this year, and how sweet that would be if they did it.

If the bat was half an inch higher, the A's win.

The 2006 ALCS: Oakland Athletics VS. Detroit Tigers
amazing the breaks they are getting Breaks? He was out, it was the right call. Unless you mean breaks as in bounce of the ball, in which case I agree.

Anyone hear Ken Rosenthal on FOX
well do you have any suggestions? Vernon Wells comes to mind. Batted around 300 and hit 32 HRs this year too. And, as shown by the millions that Toronto threw at AJ Burnett, they are prepared to overpay for pitching. So you'd be prepared to trade Willis and/or other top pitching prospects for one year of Vernon Wells, considering he's a FA at the end of next year, and IF we did trade for him, we'd have little to no chance of re-signing him? No thanks.

Berardino on Managerial Change
"Talking generally about usage I think should happen. It should happen a lot with a young team like we had when we're trying to figure out things as we go along and it can happen with an experienced team. `Well, this guy that's been around 10 years and is hitting .094, should he continue to hit against left-handed pitching?' "I think good managers can't make a bad team good, but good managers can make a good team great," These two quotes explain why Beinfest is God. :thumbup

A-Rod...
The only team who I think would be able to afford him/trade for him, would be the Angels. That being said I think he stays a Yankee.

Best Marlins Games of 2006
Just a little thread to relive the brilliant memories of 2006. Three games stand out in my mind. 1. Anibal's no-hitter vs. the Diamondbacks. Pretty much a no-brainer. It was on my birthday so it's a game I'll never, ever forget. 2. vs. Baltimore. Helms and JoBo hit back-to-back home runs in the 9th off Chris Ray who hadn't blown a save all year, to tie the game. Then Cabs came through and drove in the go-ahead run off an intentional walk. One of the best comebacks ever. 3. vs. Mets. Hammer's walk-off HR. Another amazing finish. Any other memorable games that you loved this year?

Herald on Fish today
Hanley Uggla Jacobs Cabrera Willingham Is our best line-up when healthy, IMO. We never really got to see it that often this year as either Jake was injured or Hammer was benched for a while. Of course it could all change when/if we acquire another bat.

Damaso Marte
Why would we need him when we have Tank and Pinto? Mid-season I wasn't a fan of Pinto at all, but by the end of the year he developed into one of our most reliable relievers, who like Ramp said, could easily get righties out as well. I think he's going to be extremely valuable next year, and with Tank as well, our money could be better spent elsewhere.
