White Sox acquire Mike MacDougal
CHICAGO (AP) -- The Chicago White Sox acquired right-handed reliever Mike MacDougal from the Kansas City Royals on Monday for minor league pitchers Tyler Lumsden and Daniel Cortes. An All-Star in 2003, MacDougal was activated from the disabled list on July 13 after straining his right shoulder during spring training. He is 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA and a save in four appearances. The 29-year-old MacDougal was 21-for-25 in save situations last season. Lumsden was 9-4 with a 2.69 ERA in 20 starts for Double-A Birmingham. Cortes was 3-9 with a 4.01 ERA and 96 strikeouts in 20 games (19 starts) with Single-A Kannapolis. Link I don't really know those White Sox prospects but judging from those figures (at least for the first guy) that seems like a lot to give up for MacDougal...

Willingham - Long-Term Answer in LF?
I said... in a few years. The kid's still 3-4 years off.

Willingham - Long-Term Answer in LF?
I've always thought Josh Willingham could be a Shea Hillenbrand type, I think that's a perfect comparison. Solid hitter without being explosive, average defensively. If we can deal him to get back a bigger piece, then great. Heck, I'd love to see Cody Ross getting some extensive playing time in LF, I think he could do wonders with a full season under his belt. Within a few years Thomas Hickman will solve our LF worries anyway, the kid will be a star.

July 22 ? Pirates @ Marlins ? 6:05 P.M.
Hahaha @ that kid. "Did you meet Cabrera?" ... "Nah he just walked away..."

Moehler the mentor
For those who didn't see the game, it was announced that Moe is pitching in Jupiter on Monday, and will be activated in time for next Sunday's double header against the Phillies. Hopefully it's only a once-off start for him and he'll spend the rest of the time in the pen... or be traded...

Jeremy IS NOT Coming Around...
isnt Hermida having a hard enough time driving guys in right now though? Uggla is doing a fine job at that note: im doing this blindly off the top of my head, but it doesnt seem like Hermida is driving anyone in I think that's the point though, he wouldn't have to drive anyone in, he'd just be getting on base to be driven in. Perhaps have a line-up of: Hanley Hermida Jacobs Cabrera Uggla Willingham Uggla would be an RBI machine behind Cabs and Jake.

All Star Lineup
Lineup: 1. Ichiro RF 2. Carl Crawford LF 3. Miguel Cabrera 3B 4. Albert Pujols 1B 5. Travis Hafner DH 6. Joe Mauer C 7. Vernon Wells CF 8. Chase Utley 2B 9. Hanley Ramirez SS Bench: Nick Swisher (Switch hitter with pop) Dave Roberts (Steal machine) Wes Helms (Has pop) Chone Figgins (Steal machine and defensive replacement) Victor Martinez (Backup catcher) Rotation: 1. Johan Santana 2. Josh Beckett 3. Francisco Liriano 4. Jon Lester 5. Jered Weaver Bullpen: Joel Zumaya (LR) Scott Shields Taylor Tankersley (Lefty specialist) Joe Nathan (SU) BJ Ryan (SU) Jonathon Papelbon (CL) Not a total all star team, but one that would be fun to watch and most of them would be around for another 5 years at least and would be a team of the future.

Dem Bums in '52
If Sanchez keeps pitching the way he has been... who's to say it won't be four rookies that will reach 10 wins? It's probably a pipe dream, but has that ever happened before?

Hollyberry
I used to read more posts by Hollyberry than most anyone besides Ramp and I no longer see her on board. Did she simply vanish or did she get traded? :lol Yeah I wondered the same thing. I almost miss her stressing in game threads.

Brian Moehler
I almost hope he does come back soon, has one good start, and then we move him.

Huizenga at ballgame
just 1-run game, so scared... But, the most important thing is Wining the game... Sanches allowed one hit & no run, and We score one run... That is THE BALL GAME. :plain

Kazmir vs. Liriano
Twins win 8-1. Liriano - 8.2 IP, 0 ER, 3 H, 0 BB, 7 SO. His ERA is down to 1.94. :plain FILTHY!! He would've had a complete game shutout had one of the Twins fielders not made an error in the last inning, which led to a run.

7/18 lineups: Jacobs rests
Olivo's catching D-Train again, I guess the platoon is mostly over and that Treanor will strictly catch Olsen.

July 17 - Nationals @ Marlins - 7:05 PM ET
Willingham should've gone. Meacham waved him home. Could you imagine the uproar if he hadn't gone and then it ended up that there was an overthrow or something like that, and he could've scored, but he didn't? It's not Willingham's fault. End of story.

Woo the Marlins got the number one web gem!
Which one was it? I missed it.

Chris Young
I would trade Petit and Vargas for Young within a heartbeat. I rate them as probably the two weakest pitchers out of all our prospects that we've seen in the majors thus far. That being said, I doubt those two would be able to net Young anyway.

Gold Glove for Olivo?
Spike, out of curiosity, what would you say if Olivo does win a Gold Glove? Hmm?

No saves during full day of baseball
Wow that's pretty nuts.

An observation about centerfield.
Maybe there was a deal in the works, and it hinged on Abercrombie hitting a HR off of Clemens? I think you're right. We now get Kazmir and Crawford from the D-Rays.
