  1. I want a position player... BTW why is no one talking of Clint Frazier anymore? I heard he was very toolsy.
  2. I encourage selectivity in pitchers. However, how selective of a hitter is Stanton really? He K' s 25% of the time while batting a .251 w/ RISP. He slugs under .500. Sure he doesn't get good pitches to hit, bt he also swings at a lot of bad pitches as well to the point where pitchers will keep throwing those bad pitchers until he improves his pitch recognition and has better command of the strike zone. All the very good, perennial 100 RBI hitters have that same command I'm talking about, regardless of how much they're pitched around. 2 out of every 3 bombs for Stanton is a solo shot. He gets a chunk of his run producing RBI with no one on base. You might as well bat him leadoff. He is waisting his time batting 3rd I think.
  3. That's my point the whole time. The job of the 1st and 2nd hitters is to become a catalyst-- a table setter for guys like Stanton to drive them in. That's why in the case of RISP, SLG is way more important than OBP. For a guy with prodigious power like Stanton, slugging under .500 with RISP is unacceptable.
  4. Stanton cannot hit with RISP. I like that he hits bombs, but he is not a prototypical run producer. He has a career .864 .OPS with runners in scoring position......with a .251 AVG. those type of numbers will keep him from being a perennial 100 RBI guy. Ozuna, although not as dynamic a player, seems like the type that will put the ball in play and produce w guys on base. He's a prototypical cleanup guy. I haven't seen anyone on this team as clutch since Miggy. Not Ozuna will be Miggy, but he just fits that mold a player than Stanton. That's the difference between a guy like Votto and Miggy. Though both are great hitters, Votto is looking more to just get on base with RISP while Cabrera is looking to drive in the run. You guys remember the IBB hit from Cabrera when he was a Marlin that scored Hanley? That play kinda sums up the type of hitter Cabs is. Votto has had over 100 RBI's twice and would've done it for a third consecutive year last year had he stayed healthy. If that's your reasoning for Stanton never reaching 100 RBI's, it's not a good one. A player shouldn't be evaluated solely on the amount of RBI's he has. Votto will put the ball in play and also hits for average in those situations, so 100+ RBI is inevitable for him a full season. I'm just saying that Cabrera is more aggressive at the plate in those situations, which I think values a team more.
  5. i also agree he seemed disinterested when he was out in RF this year. He didn't act a tool like Hanley did but he certainly seemed to have lost a sense of urgency going after balls and even on the basepaths. He just played at a "hermida" speed for his time he was in the lineup. I'm sick and tired of him being injured over and over and over as well. Maybe he does tear it up with another team but I've honestly stopped seeing him as a potential MVP candidate down the road because he just can't stay healthy for a full season (and i'm not talking about missing just a week or two either). My concern is that they'd trade him and get 2 relievers and a 3b prospect in A ball who's hitting .268 but "with great upside". I've been very impressed with Ozuna so far, and while a season it doesn't make he started out hot, had a little slump, and seems to have readjusted already as the scouting reports are changing on him again. Small sample size but it's been impressive to see. Stanton has always been kinda clumsy in the OF. He's even clumsy when he talks. He's also not 100%. He's probably not disinterested. He doesn't even have a big contract yet. It's easy to assume a player is disinterested when he's struggling. It's also easy to become disinterested when you're playing with a bunch a scrubs and your team is the laughingstock of the league.
  6. The big deal is that he doesn't drive in the run, which you're supposed to do in those situations.his AVG is .251

  9. Stanton is our best overall player, but in terms of clutchness and run producing/RBI guy, Ozuna is the best since Miguel Cabrera. Stanton has unbelievable power but can't hit w/ RISP.
  10. 9 hits off Harvey is 3.2 innings? Is this real life?
  11. Turner looked good. Ozuna has a shot at it if Gattis falls off. Right now the media is in love with that guy and his story. It is quite a story. I just saw Shelby Miller stats...forget it
  12. Stanton tests hamstring "He just started lightly jogging, and he's now complaining about his knees being sore," Redmond said. You can even tell that Redmond is getting tired of Stanton's BS.
  13. Lomo is a designated hitter for the hammerheads tonight
  14. This team can be decent with both Stanton and Yelich in the lineup
  15. So Yelich played CF over Marisnick yesterday. Interesting. Might he be manning CF in June for the Marlins?
  16. Yelich is playing CF while Marisnick is playing LF as we speak. Something brewing that we don't know of?
  17. My 1st post on this thread is what should be the positions.
  18. Aww ish da heat lost
  19. Lets light em up boys!
  20. I know that he knows how good he can be but Stanton has had 1 full and healthy season. Otherwise he hasnt done s*** and I think for a 23 year old he needs to get off his high horse a little bit if all these reports about his attitude are true. there are reports about Stanton's attitude? other than the tweet, what reports are there?
  21. Put Yelich in the outfield and Stanton at 1B. any reason why Yelich at 1B over Stanton?
  22. C Brantly 1B Stanton 2B Barnes SS Hech 3B Dietrich LF Yelich CF Ruggs | Marisnick RF Ozuna
  23. If all the prospects are developing as expected, then this Marlins team can turn into a very scary lineup in a few years 2B Solano C Barnes LF Yelich 1B Stanton RF Ozuna 3B Dietrich CF Marisnick SS Hechavarria A 3-4-5 w/ Yelich-Stanton-Ozuna could potentially be scary. That lineup would put up runs.
  24. They are babying Fernandez's arm They shouldThe only through 82 innings you should at least one more inning before they shut them down he was on the road the whole night any just to let him extended because of the last two starts that he had to build his confidence
