  1. Do they have public areas in Miami where they assemble publicly to discuss baseball, or sports in general? That's nice.
  2. The orange hat is the best. I already have an outfit to match with it. I've been simulating it with the orange hat all day and it looks really good with it
  3. Stanton chasing skirts in Europe while the team were promoting their new colors. LOL
  4. Let Reyes move to 2B like he did for Kaz Matsui, or more sensibly, 3B. You guys didn't have a problem when captain Derek Jeter didn't move for A-Rod. I guess Jeter gets special privilages despite his atrocious defense, since he has GOAT intangibles to overlook talent according to some chickenheads. Speaking of chickenheads, can any of you artsy comp. savs make Freddi look like a chicken plz.? thx Countdown to "Hanley, is that you?" reply. .
  5. Yeah, me too. I'm tired of the Royal Palms in Miami stadiums/arenas. Coconut Palms look much, much better IMO. Just look at Ocean Drive.
  6. MVP: Stanton Gold Glove: Infante/Stanton Cy Young: Vazquez Most Improved: Bonifacio Rookie of the year: Petersen Your Fav Player: Stanton
  7. Man, i wish we kept the colors
  8. Who's the better player on the Marlins? Juan Carlos or Giancarlo? The funny thing is that they both changed their names.
  9. Dominguez will suprise alot of people offensively next season.
  10. Realmuto > Skip
  11. Realmuto is looking real impressive....shaky start but has hit all of his 12 HRs in the 2nd half. He's also stole 13 bases in 19 chances this season while hitting .290+ and throwing out 43% of SB attempts. Looking like a 5-tooler right now. Yelich is a freak. No explanation needed. He and Realmuto are in my TOP 100 prospects right now, and those are my two favorites among Marlins prospects right now.
  12. Stanton will hit about 5 more from hereon out. Hes had a good season
  13. baseball-reference article talks about Stanton's great HR start to his career and defensive metrics: Random recap for Wednesday: Stanton a HR champ at 21? Posted by John Autin on August 18, 2011 http://0.gravatar.co...pg%3Fs%3D48&r=G « Game-Ending Triple Plays and Walk-Off Double Plays -- Mike Stanton homered for the 4th straight game and is 2nd in the NL with 29 HRs, one behind Albert Pujols. The youngest modern player to lead either league in home runs was Tony Conigliaro in 1965, with 32 HRs at age 20. Eddie Mathews (21) was the youngest NL HR champ in the live-ball era, with 47 HRs in 1953; Stanton is about a month younger than Mathews was that year. With 51 career HRs, Stanton is 13th on the list of most HRs through age 21 (see table below); he needs 3 more to crack the top 10. He's the 7th player with 50+ HRs within his first 2 seasons through age 21. I've never heard this mentioned on TV: Stanton's defensive metrics are also excellent. He leads the NL with 1.7 defensive Wins Above Replacement this year, and was 10th with 1.4 dWAR last year; for more traditional stats, he's among the leaders in both range factor and assists. The two-way combination makes him 10th in NL position-player WAR. Ricky Nolasco allowed 11 runs on 11 hits in 3 innings, the most runs he's ever allowed and the most by any pitcher this year in a start of 3 IP or less. The outing added more than half a run to his ERA. Nolasco has allowed 3 runs or less in 18 of 26 games this year, but this was his 4th "disaster start" (more runs than IP). Prior disasters were 9 runs in 1.1 IP, 9 runs in 3 IP, and 8 runs (on 15 hits) in 5 IP. He's the only pitcher this year with 4 games of 8+ runs allowed or 3 games of 9+ runs. -- Johnny Cueto (1 run in 8 IP) qualified for the ERA title and trimmed his ERA to 1.89. That would be a Reds franchise record for the live-ball era; Dolf Luque (1.93 in 1923) and Gary Nolan (1.99 in '72) are the only Reds to post a sub-2 ERA since 1920. -- On paper, Bruce Chen vs. the Yankees was a fight that should have been stopped before the posters were printed. Chen's career record against the Bombers was 1-5 with a 6.71 ERA, with a 1.73 WHIP and 19 HRs in 63 IP. Current Yanks had a combined .333 BA and 1.002 OPS against him; Mark Teixeira was 9 for 16 with 6 HRs and 2 doubles, Derek Jeter was 14-35 with 3 HRs. "And that's why they play the games": Chen did allow 2 HRs (HRs:Chen :: spots:leopard), but both were solo shots, and he allowed just 1 other run in helping the Royals scrape out a 5-4 win. Teixeira went 0-3 with 2 popups against Chen, and 0-4 with a walk overall; the Yanks went 1-10 with RISP. Trailing by 2 in the 7th, New York put the tying runs on with no out, but KC rookie Louis Coleman struck out Teixeira, Robinson Cano and Nick Swisher in succession. Coleman (1.64 ERA, 29 hits in 49 IP) was followed by Greg Holland (1.61 ERA, 0.94 WHIP in 45 IP), who tossed a perfect 8th. Joakim Soria ended a rocky 9th by fanning Jorge Posada on 3 called strikes. Curtis Granderson extended his AL leads in Runs, RBI and extra-base hits, going 4-2-3-1 with a double and his 34th HR. -- Belated note: The pinch-hit grand slam by Brian Bogusevic that gave Houston a 6-5 win Tuesday earned him a 0.815 Win Probability Added. That's the 12th-highest batter WPA this year, and the highest in over a year for any hitter with just 1 PA. It was the 2nd HR in the young career of this converted pitcher, and the first of his 23 hits that gave his team a lead. http://www.baseball-.../archives/14141
  14. I think Stanton as a prime Thome. Stanton will have a better K% than Dunn (if he doesn't already) and is already developing a good BB% rate. Dunn's K% is 30%-35%+ perennially. I don't think Stanton will be striking out that much as he has enough window to improve. Right now his K% is sub 30%. I also think Stanton has slightly more power potential than Dunn. Thome is a good measuring stick for what Mike can become. Jim Thome was walking 15% of the time out of the box and did that consistently, and never struck out more than 27% of the time during his entire career. That's not a good comparison at all. Adam Dunn probably isn't either, as I really don't think Mike's going to walk as much. I would say Ryan Howard's a really good bet, given a BB rate around 10-12% and a K rate between 25-30% with .275+ ISO, but with much better defense and baserunning. At this point, Stanton's window is so big that none of us can really throw numbers out there, but he has shown the ability to take walks before. I think his short and compact swing will allow him to become more selective with his pitches. Dude is only 21 years of age. Who really knows his potential? Ryan Howard, Adam Dunn, and Jim Thome are all fair comparisons for Stanton. However, as far as plate discipline goes, Stanton can be Ryan Howard afterall. Remember peak Howard was walking 15- 17% of the time with 40- 60 bombs. That could be Stanton. Thome has drawn walks consistently throughout his career. But, I see virtually, peak Howard = peak Thome. So, the only difference being Ryan Howard OBP game wasn't as consistent as Thomes. So, as far I know, all of those comparisons are legit because we don't really know whether Stanton will develop to OBP consistency of Thome or not.

  16. They say he lacks plate discipline? Well, guess who leads the league in walks since the break.... well, in fairness, he is 4th in walks. Hes approaching Adam Dunn like levels of Three True Outcomes-dom since the All Star Break. Almost half of his PAs end in either a walk, a K, or a Hr. http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/batting/_/split/182/league/nl/sort/walks/order/true Stanton's numero uno
  17. They say he lacks plate discipline? Well, guess who leads the league in walks since the break....
  18. Stanton has been drawing alot of walks lately...12 in last 6 games
  19. Mike stanton will hit 30+ homeruns this season. If he can hit up to about 20 before the break, then has a good chance at 40. Since may, Stanton has hit 13 HRs in 37 games, about an average of 33 hr/ 100 games. He has exactly 100 games to go. Knowing his consistent power, if he can hit another 33 hr by the end of the season, he would be at 48. Wow
  20. Overall, the list is terrible. F
  21. It would be real cool if Stanton got to 40 HR. I say it's 50/50, barring injuries of course. Any chance you guys think he might be an MVP candidate? It would also be real cool him be the youngest ever to win MVP.
  22. If you're a Marlins fan, Stanton and Logan Morrison are two of the young stars to be proud of. They have so much potential it's not funny. Stanton putting up goofy hr numbers while Morrison is putting up goofy obp numbers with developing power. Hopefully the rest of the hitters sans gaby can pick it up

  24. On a side note: Stanton hasn't struck out in his last 4 games, and walked 3 times and hit 2 homers in the process. I see he has went back to his old batting stance; says a more relaxed approach has helped him so far with not K'ing. Do y'all think this new Stanton is what we should be looking forward to? Wishful thinking he can be a 20- 23% K% hitter one day? He has really lOoked impressive with seeing the strike zone and pitch recognition.
