So who thinks LA trade was bad now?
Where are the naysayers about the trade now? Anyone out there who still thinks this was a bad trade for The Fish?

Mota's House of Pain!
couldn't let this one get away; besides he needed work

Mota is not a rental...contract runs for several yrs

Buster Olney Analysis
Everyone seems to point to Choi's obp. Big deal. That Billy Ball stuff is such a crock; the A's have made the playoffs because of their pitching; the offense has been pathetic in post season I could care less what a slugger's obp is-he's paid to hit and drive in runs, not to get on base. The guy has only 40 rbi's! LoDuca is a very good clutch hitter; great in late inning situations. Our offense has bogged down because of a lack of timely hitting. LoDuca and Ency (if he stays) will drive in runs. Mota is a stud

Trade talk doesn't surprise Pavano, Benitez
Obviously, if we trade either one we're giving up the season. Same scenario last yr when the Lowell trade rumors were flying. Guess these next few weeks are crucial

The Season will turn here....
assuming we aren't out of it by then

Jason Kendall...
Kendall would be perfect :thumbup

Marlins running into these mediocre teams
wish i could share the "half-full" attitude, but we are in serious trouble. We can't afford to fall too far behind, and the Phillies are in the midst of a long homestand. Some changes are needed....soon

Pavs, Benitez, Cabs, and Lowell are allstars!
congrats to all 4... but right now we suck

Rain Delay
:censored Brad had nothing...3 freakin hits...phillies win what a lousy day

Maybe this is a start to something....
Great day, Pavano has single handedly kept this team in first place this month pretty much. He has been huge. Good to see bench players get a bunch of hits today. Now lets see if the normal lineup can start to produce I'm not goin to sit here and say Pavano is the reason because lately we have been gettign some very good pitching performances and offense has been horrible. Well, his last 5 wins have come after a loss... the team is like 12-2 when he starts he's stopped at least 3 long losing streaks

Maybe this is a start to something....
We needed a laugher...glad Pavs was the recipient of so much support though he hardly needed it. He's gotta be a lock 4 the All Star game But we need to get rid of some of our secondary players, especially in the pen, if we are to repeat our success from last year. Phillies have a long home stand coming up-we need to make some changes soon!

Pavano
Bot sure I agree with the "concern" about Pavs k numbers. He's averaging 5+/game which isn't that shabby. He can get the k when he needs it, and he throws in the 90's. I think k's re more important for a reliever anyway.

Pavano Prefers Florida
Pavs sounds awesome...how come so many on the board say he's a jerk? He hardly sounds like one.
-
Pavano Heading to the All Star Game?
Jack even said, in todays Herald, that Carl is just about at the top of the staff at the moment. If he does well in his next 2-3 starts, he's an AllStar for sure
-
Pavano is playing himself out of Florida!!!!!
Although I agree that his stock keeps going up as he pitches, I think he won't command an amount that our team wouldn't be able to offer. He still has a lot to do to prove himself as a grade A pitcher, so far he's doing a good job at it, though. He's still not recognized around MLB as a better-than-average pitcher. Second, we'll have some funds available next year, as we won't have to pay for Hampton, am I right? i disgree about his reputation. Many insiders (Leiter was one who called him a stud) saw his rise last year. More are joining the bandwagon (Kruk is one). His rep went way up after playoffs and series. This year it's more solidified. Glad I bought his card last year when it was cheap Fish may have blown it by only giving him a 1 yr deal, but we still have over 3 months to go.

Penny or Pavano
That's a tough one, but I voted 4 Pavs because he's been coming on stronger than Brad of late, and he's been through a lot of bad stuff so it would be a bigger deal for him and his confidence. He's also stopped a couple of losing streaks. One should make it.

Carl Pavano
The playoffs and series showed us he had fully turned the corner after hints of it during the season. i remember reading an article in an out of town paper about him during the playoffs...he said he was out to rid himself of the ghosts that haunted him, the teams that gave up on him---i knew he had arrived. not much difference between him and Brad this year
-
big win tonight
Pavs stops another streak and some nice timely hitting seals it. We needed this one. I think this is at least the 2nd time Pavs stopped a losing streak. I just love it when it gets in that groove and mows em down . We're 9-2 when he starts. But where would we be without Benitez? Amazing-I was dead wrong about him, but I know he's due to get tagged a bit. No earned runs since opening day?!! GO FISH :whistle

FA's this offseason..
:confused Glad to see Pavs finally getting some major respect from the Board. I've said it many times;he's turned the corner and has more of an upside than any of those other fa's. He's also cheaper than most of them. My question is why didn't the Fish sign him to a multi-year deal last year? The fact that they didn't leaves me to believe that he may be going...hate to see that happen-he's our #2 man this year, and Josh looks like he's gonna be doing more dl time.

MVP of tonights game
Well, it wasn't the best game of his Marlins career ( did we forget his WS gem against Clemons?), but he's MVP hands down. I agree that he and Brad have been our best and most consistent starters so far-but Josh and Dontrelle have not been too shabby either-just not as consistent. As i said in the off season, Pavs has turned the corner-let's hope we sign him as I believe that he's eligible for free agency next yr.

Padres series
Pavano was awesome tonight... As for his season so far, he's had some problems in later innings against Philly and SF, but he has been quite excellent otherwise. The only starter that has been brilliant all year has been Penny. Josh and Dontrelle have also had their lumps. Pavs is an interesting pitcher;once he gets in a groove he's a stud.

Weekend attendance
yes, the attendance for the Dodgers series was embarrasing...2 of the top teams so far should draw better;even the LA announcers were mentioning it big time how much longer will we have to endure Oliver? Penny, Pavano and Beckett have been our most consistent...Penny's clearly been the best so far

Favorite/Least Favorite Marlins
fav....Pavano least fave...Oliver

Your thoughts on the first week
it's always great to start like this, but we need more depth in the pen...can't expect benitez to pitch like this, and his arm will be dead by june...jack doesn't have confidence in anyone else i guess
