John Baker gets the call

Interested to see what 40 man roster moves are made

I don't believe they've announced what they've done for Volstad yet. Both Gardner and Badenhop are 60 day dl candidates, but you have to keep in mind of JJ too. wonder if someone's gonna get DFA (probably Barone)

I think it's great although I'm never happy to see a guy hurt. I think Treanor's skillset behind the plate will be missed and I'm hoping he's back there quickly. John Baker has worked hard for this opportunity and so I welcome hime with open arms and as always he becomes my new favorite Marlin.

John Baker and Paul Hoover, who'd a thunk it? :D

This shows how much of a dissappointment Rabelo has been in the eyes of the FO.

I was just about to post the same thought. Baker has earned a shot with the way he has hit the past 2 seasons in AAA, but I was a little shocked that Rabelo wasn't given another shot. They must be disappointed with Rabelo because calling him back up would have been the easier move to make.

I hope he is catching tonight! I checked his stats and he as a .382 average against lefties and tonight a lefty is starting so hopefully he plays.

He earned a shot. He's been swinging the bat well. Let's hope he doesn't take too long to adjust. Now that he's on the 40-man roster he may stick when Treanor gets better and Hoover goes down.

By the way did anyone hear the Padres announcers talking about the All-Animal House battery of Pinto and Hoover. LMAO :lol

Rabelo is terrible but he's still a big part of the big trade last winter...Id have bet the farm that even with him struggling, theyd have given him at least one more solid opportunity. Cause even with Baker's success (and everyone on here who want him up), the front office has never displayed him as having any future with the big league club... So I'm pleasantly surprised that he's getting the call. And yeah, Hoover and Baker? Whod have thunk it?

The fact that these past few days have given us John Baker, Chris Volstad, and Hendrickson being moved to the pen...sounds like Beinfest may be reading our threads! Good times for the Fish!

classic! how did we miss that.

Hallelujah. The heavens have opened and sent down John Baker. I'm sure the Marlinbaseball.com community is waiting with bated breath for his first at-bat. Of course, this also cuts down on the thread count here, since the "call up baker!" threads once every few weeks will be no more.

That is what I was thinking....

Welcome Baker...

This is great.

I guess we won't see any Rabelo / "Beinfest type player" type of posts tonight.

Baker has earned this way more than Rabelo, and he got the call. :thumbup
