Posted July 1, 201014 yr Really wanted the sweep, but oh well. Won the series. Now do we show up strong against the Braves or lose 4 straight again. Stay tuned. Also, I really really miss Baker
July 1, 201014 yr Barden tried, but we knew as fans he was gonna fail most likely. Oh well, it was entertaining game but on the wrong end. Need to rebound and go 'Oh well, time to kick Braves ass.'
July 1, 201014 yr We make a winning series against over .500 team. That is not bad. BTW, Giants trades Bengie Molina to Rangers, tonight. Rangers already has C Max Ramirez in the roster. Could we get him, if he still available?
July 1, 201014 yr 4 f***ing errors to hand the game to the mets and even with those errors had so many chances to score more. and you just knew that barden would come up at some point and lose the f***ing game. i cannot take this bench anymore!!!!!!!!! losing this game is a two game difference and now were still 7 behind the mets and of course back to 8.5 back of atlanta who in my opinion we need to sweep and not just win the series. staton fails AGAIN in a big spot and i cannot stand the sight of brian barden anymore. time to claim blalock who we went after in the offseason and bring up luna. i dont understand how the FO doesnt see this.
July 1, 201014 yr What a stupid loss that was. Apparently 17 hits aren't enough. I'm angry again. Just feel like that sweep was there for the taking. As putrid as the defense was today I really need to know why the hell Rodriguez pinch hit Wes Helms for Jorge Cantu. Helms could've been available for that last at-bat of the ballgame instead of Barden who is just overmatched up here.
July 1, 201014 yr The Marlins gave this game away. Another 1 run loss because the team can't do the little things to win games. Some of these guys have to go. And I'm talking about guys like Uggla, Cantu, etc. Good bats, they've done well in their years here, but it's seriously time for a change in philosophy. I'm happy that Stanton looks awesome defensively in the outfield. This front office has been looking to get better defensively for awhile now, yet things have not changed because the players on the field are still the same. The pen is bad, and things get even worse when you're making them get more than 3 outs an inning. The Marlins need to look at what the Padres are doing with their lack of talent, and try to get some players that help the team win in different ways.
July 1, 201014 yr Defense faltered here but our weak bench was also exposed... I now pose this question... I get why they need some Minor League playing time... but if our bench is so bad up here, why are Maybin and BC rotting down in Triple A??? Our bench has only one solid hitter in Helms and even he has had an off-year. Besides that, its embarrassing that our bench is Bonifacio, Barden, Lamb, and Hayes... none of which are up here for anything resembling quality hitting. Maybin and/or Brett Carroll have to be better options for our bench at this point. Why not???
July 1, 201014 yr Meh, at least we won the series. Freaking Cantu and the errors. i was just happy Edwin used Barden and not Lamb. I know normally you want the lefty vs rightie but Lamb never comes through.

July 1, 201014 yr Well I'll echo the sentiments of everyone else here. If we played our best and didn't make those stupid mistakes and errors and still lost then I'd tip my hat to the mets and be glad we just won 2 out of three and move on. Well I am glad we won 2 out of 3 and won the series, but the fact that we played the way we did tonight made this loss horrible. I think that's what makes this loss suck the most, that we practically handed the win to the Mets with those errors. But I guess we should've seen it coming from the first inning. Maybe the rain was a bad indication of what was going to happen. Oh well, time to move on. You win some you lose some. I want to see the Marlins play 100% better against the Braves!

July 1, 201014 yr Admin beinfest i am begging you!!! http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?pos=&sid=milb&t=p_pbp&pid=425659
July 1, 201014 yr Im fed up with Loria and the ENITRE front office!! I wish MLB would do something about it!!!! They only care about pocketing money and nothing else!! The Nationals are out in the market after Haren, Carlos Q, Edwin Jackson etc.. While we are "expected" to make the playoffs with 1 .300 hitter and no bullpen and no bench? LMAO
July 1, 201014 yr I'm sorry, but E-Rod has made some QUESTIONABLE moves, to the point where you have to question his baseball IQ. Second game against the Padres 7th inning- Cody on second, Paulino on first. He pinch runs Paulino for Boni with the TYING RUN ON SECOND BASEEEE. WTF!? Today- Does the same thing with tying run on second. Not as bad since it was the 9th, but still.

Why would u take Cody out of the game when he's a decent enough runner... Paulino is the slowest man on the team... the tying run is on second but a solid hit lets that run score easily... yet, having the speedy Bonifacio as the trail runner allows the go ahead run to score all the way from first on a solid hit into the gaps. And if it doesnt work, at least Cody stays in the game while we can keep Hayes in at catcher... So whats the problem?

Dude you don't take out your starting catcher who is batting 300+ to put Hayes in in the 8th with a 2-1 ballgame. You leave both Cody and Pauli in.

If its in the 8th and Bonifacio comes around to score and we then lead 3-2, I'll take that and then have Hayes catch our closer in the 9th. And how does Paulino hitting .300+ help him when he's already on first base? He already batted, putting in Bonifacio replaces his slow baserunning, it doesnt replace his hitting. I dont see why you feel this move is such a bad move.

July 1, 201014 yr 17 hits aren't enough when you play defense like that. I'm really getting sick of the defense in this infield. I hope that Dominguez gets his bat going, because I'd love to see some good defense at third base. I wouldn't protest if the Marlins got rid of Barden and Lamb, and replaced them with Blalock and Luna. Even Helms is overrated. He gave us that professional one pitch flyout in the 8th inning with the tying run on base. Considering that Helms is the only player on this team paid to hit, I would expect better.

Yeah, they straight out said this on the telecast. They said, it's not as if they haven't worked on their defense, they have it's just that they're not good. I agree with most of the sentiments on this thread. The bench is absolutely horrible and lacks anyone "clutch". The bullpen is below average. With this subpar defense the team keeps screwing themselves over. Luckily there is a day off tomorrow. I can use a break from the Marlins.

At least General Hospital is on tomorrow.
July 1, 201014 yr I really want to know why Lamb is still in this organization at all. Has he come through in a PH situation even ONCE this year when it mattered? I agree that we need to dump Lamb for good, call up Luna, and then pick up Blalock and send Barden wherever, I don't really care where.
