Fish4Life
J.J. is scheduled to pitch on Wed for the Fish. Jimenez is scheduled to pitch on Fri for the Rockies. All Start game will be on Wed. 7/13... Which would be J.J.'s.6th day of rest. Would be pretty bad ass to see the Marlins represented on the mound for the N.L. All Stars. Hope it happens! fanofthefish
Fingers crossed on that one too. Maybe he can thank Joe Girardi while he's at the game for making him the pitcher he is today :thumbup Let's just hope there are no rain delays
louiecastillo1
What about Halladay? If he's good to go, I'm sure Charlie Manuel will give him the nod over JJ.

AS game is on Tuesday but yeah would love to see JJ get the start. Tim Kurkjian from Basball Tonight said JJ would be his stater if it was up to him. He'll definitely get in to pitch a inning(maybe two) at some point during the game.
gizmo
I'm sure Manuel is going to go with his own guy in Halladay. If he manages to surprise us all and don't, however, than JJ should have a great chance. He would be the first Marlins pitcher to start the ASG, unless I'm forgetting someone. I don't know, Charlie took a lot of flack for taking "his guys" last season, look at the roster this year and it looks like he really toned that down. I think that's exactly why Werth isn't on the roster even though this year, unlike last, he actually deserves it.
MichelleBelle311
God it would be AMAZING if this happened. I'd probably tear up when he took the mound, no joke.

Fish Dynasty
Halladay pitched today, which means his next scheduled start is Saturday. If he pitches then, JJ would almost be guaranteed to get the start.

I don't remember how "unworthy" Werth was last year but I'm not sure Charlie toned anything down. I mean, he picked Howard over Votto. Werth was no where near one of the best OFers in the NL the first half of last season. Even went into a slump before the game. There were plenty more deserving players. One on our own team. Charlie did the normal thing of picking some of his players as a reward for the previous season. Kinda hard not to pick Howard. Especially for Charlie. But I can see where you are coming from on this one pick. It really wouldn't surprise me to think Charlie may have figured Votto would most likely get the final selection anyways. I'm pretty sure he's going to get it.

BafflingBeerman
Just wondering: what is the typical trend for All-Star Game Starters in the second half of the season? We hear about how the homerun derby messes up players' swings, do pitchers feel any repercussions in going out to the mound with an unfamiliar team/manager/amount of rest? Or are they the same as other players who are in the ASG that year in terms of effect (that is, none)?

Erick
He is the best pitcher in the NL right now and that includes Strasburg Didn't even know he was part of the debate, at the moment. I'd say 36.2 innings is a little too soon for such talk.
Admin
According to the Bill James Cy Yong predictor, Johnson is ranked 6th in the NL (behind two relievers-Bell and Wagner). :lol I guess those wins really count for a lot. I wouldn't worry too much; Lincecum got the Cy Young last season with only 15 wins. Johnson's main competition will be Wainwright, I think. Ubaldo isn't as good as the hype leads one to believe.
