I folowed the game, some of it on the i-phone I gots today. On Gameday.

 

Nice to see Marlins take the series. 1-0 win is bad though. O needs to wake up tomorrow. Marlins took 2 out of 3 this series to begin second half...but were outscored 4-3.

The Marlins scored a total of 3 runs in this series. So pathetic. Plenty of wasted opportunities. It's nice that we were capable of winning the series but we really need to work on the offense.

I'll go with the pitching today over Gabby. Sanches,Sanabia,Hensley,solid preformace by all the guys. Really can't ask for much more from the pen.

 

Runs be scarce these days though. eek

 

We are way overdue to breakthrough and reel off some runs,doubtful it happens tomorrow night(with Jimenez) but maybe it starts Tues.

Offense must wake up or we're dead. Pitching keeps us in the game, but if we don't get a run, we lose.

While I am glad we won 2 of 3, all I keep thinking about is how bad the offense is right now

True, the offense has been crap but they won a series....thats all I really care about right now. Being 3 games under .500, all they need to do is win, regardless how good the O is.

The offense will kick up. The pitching needs to maintain at least a resemblance of what it is now if we're going to actually make a runby the end of this month. We've got 13 games to do it.

I'm willing to buy the entire team a set of alarm clocks so the bats are ensured of waking up. Just set them to go off 5 minutes before every game.

 

At least we won though...

i missed the game today but can't help but notice like most fo you that our O sucks. So when does Morrison come up? Cantu has been stinking the joint up.

Sanabia reminds me of Volstad in his 1st call-up in that he's making good pitches but also getting fortunate nearly every time he gets into a jam. Let's hope he keeps up the success.

Our offense has been nonexistant almost since the break, but hey, so has the Nats for the most part. I'll take back to back shutouts, especially when one of two starting pitchers is only making his second MLB start.

ok, here's the deal on Dominguez. He's MLB ready defensively, offensively he still doesn't have nearly enough power to pass by as a 3B, nor is he hitting the ball particularly well. Dominguez is nowhere near the class that guys like Morrison and Stanton are as offensive players, and he needs at least another year (more likely a year and a half to two years) in the minors to get his swing perfected. He hasn't exactly had a dazzling season in the minors at any level (just a few sparkling months towards the end of his stays), so we need to see consistency from him before we are ready to call him up.

 

If you are looking for best and worst case scenarios, then best case scenario seems to be Ryan Zimmerman if he figures it all out, and worst case is he becomes a defensive specialist like Pedro Feliz. If you're looking for what Dominguez will realistically be put Cantu's current offensive stat line and mix that with above average defense. I'll take that.

 

However, until Dominguez is ready, the smart thing to do is sign Uggla after the season to a 3 year deal, move him to third or keep him at 2nd and move Coghlan to third or second (doesn't matter imo), then bring Morrison into LF, trade Cody in the offseason, put Maybin in CF, and everything sets up for next year offensively.

 

The 3 year deal for Uggla is important is that even if Dominguez isn't ready for another 2 years, when he gets called up he has an entire year to get himself acclimated to the majors, learn under whoever is playing third base, get tips from veterans, and gain very important experience. Hell, he'd still only be 24 when he eventually gains the 3rd base spot (and 23 when he gets called up). It's the right way to go about things.

 

Unless we are completely blown away by another teams offer, it is important for this club to keep Uggla.

I'm going to have to disagree. For a kid in AA as a 20 year old, Dominguez has shown plenty of power (10 HR's; 33 XBH's). Not everyone is Mike Stanton. Also, while Morrison is the safer prospect, there's more upside to Dominguez' game. I suppose there's no harm giving Uggla a 3 year contract because his bat is always valuable in a trade, just in case everything goes as planned so I guess I'll agree, for the most part.

I'm voting kennedy for this series. Hes my new favorite baserunner.

Getting fortunate? Maybe, but that would mean getting lucky. I don't see it that way. He settles down and makes his pitches. The kid is soft spoken, dosen't let things get to him, and delivers when he really needs to. That strike zone alone would have rattled alot of pitchers. At least until they saw it was going to be that way the entire game for both teams. But he just kept on keeping on.

 

Meanwhile, our guys at the plate were acting like it was a huge strike zone and swinging like it. They were sure helping out the Nats.

Lets look at things this way - we were being efficient and economical with our run producing in this series. Score 3 runs and win 2 of 3. Save the runs for the Rockies and Braves and build/continue the winning streak!
