Jorge Cantu Traded to Rangers

Featured Replies

All the best to Jorge. I'll miss yelling like a stereotypical Mexican during his walkup music most of all.

It's been pretty depressing watching Cantu play lately. It reminds me of Mike Lowell's last year with the Marlins before he went to the Red Sox. You just sat there scratching your head and wondering "what happened?" Cantu was doing really well earlier this season. Hopefully he'll have better luck with the Rangers. Now watch...next year, Cantu will win a Gold Glove..just wait..

Cantu was an unsung hero here in FL for quite a while, but this move is best for everyone, really. I wish him the best

Anyone know anything about these two prospects?

good luck jorge. he was my favorite marlin during his time on the team. i think he'll do a much better job playing 1st base than 3rd as his previous stats show.

Good luck Jorge. I won't miss you.

thats really quite thickheaded. he came as a minor league free agent invited to spring training and gave 2 great years before this one and just because he has had a couple of bad months you are really trashing his entire time here. jorge was a class act on and off the field and he will be missed.

Good luck, Jorge. One of the best Marlins games I've been to was a day game against the Phillies where he had a walk-off hit. I got sunburned like crazy, but it was well worth it.

Good luck Jorge. I won't miss you.

1. That's not what I meant. I won't miss him because he no longer adds anything to this team. It's nice we got him a bargain, sure.

2. He was never great, here. People should stop saying that.

He was a ~.800 .OPS bat the last 2 years who played horrible defense at 3B. For a corner infielder, the guy was pretty much average, even during his best years.

Great are Hanley Ramirez, Josh Johnson, and Dan Uggla.

Jorge was a class guy. It's sad to see him go, but it was time. I'm glad the organization got something in return for him as he was almost surely gone after the season anyway. I'm going to miss the way the spanish announcer said his last name at the ballpark. Cantuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!
