waste of a nice emergency start & bullpen work.

Not much offense today.

it's a pretty weak lineup at this point though. we're going Tracy-Boni-Davis-pitcher. ugh.

on the bright side Miller kept them in the game! Nice showing by Andrew today. :thumbup A little wild as usual, but held it together. I'll take anything at this point.

Cody Ross is a Giant.

Now with Paulino out, no real starting 3rd baseman and now with Cameron Maybin starting in CF, our lineup is looking pretty mediocre right now.

Can someone tell me how Andrew Miller really pitched today? Did he gey lucky? Or was this actually a promising start?

I saw the 1st 3 innings and he pitched pretty well. Only 2 Hits 1 Walk but Bourn stole on a pitchout then scored later on a sac fly.

He only gave up 3 walks which is an improvement and he was getting outs with his offspeed.

Overall he did well and he did it for US!

ANDREW MILLER :notworthy

I don't think he pitched all that well. The Stros could have scored more runs if they had gone up there without bats. He was all over the place.

He did throw a few pretty wild pitches including one that sailed over Davis' head to the backstop, however I am very pleased with how he pitched today. In normal conditions, we was on pace to complete 7 innings or so. Now can he turn in another good start when he next gets an opportunity?

i was impressed with andrew. he was still a little wild but he earned another start. he needs to learn how to throw strikes consistently though

I didn't see after the 3rd but he was a bit shaky as expected for a guy who walks more guys then he strikesout but he made some good pitches and got outs when he needed to.

Cody may be getting hot again, but he wasn't coming back. Time for Maybin to hit MLB pitching.

He was definitely wild, but the thing I liked was that the stuff looked a lot more live than I remember it being the last couple of times he was in the majors. Also, he looked more confident than one would expect and actually perhaps more confident than a lot of the times he'd been in the majors in the past.

He had the command of Nuke Laloosh, but he was more put together on the mound than you would expect.

How was his fastball and slider? Did he touch 95 again?

His hardest fastball hit 94 per (average of 91) MLB Gameday and most of his sliders where strikes and it was a good outpitch for him. (Average 12 In of break on it) He really needs to work on commanding his changeup alot more he threw them all over the place.

I wasn't paying extremely close attention, but the fastest I saw was 93. Still, it looked faster than what the gun was saying, which is sometimes more important.

It seems like Miller is getting his stuff back. That's great to hear but hopefully next time he's less wild.

He'll do it for us.!

:high5

Up next is the return of the Spider Cam!

Yeah wild as usual, but had flashes of competency.

:lol

You know it's rough when this is considered a positive thing for a player.

It's a small step forward for him. That's all that matters.

I thought the same thing. It seemed link the Astros didn't even read a scouting report on him because they were really aggressive at the plate and helping him out.

What's not being mentioned is how well Davis did catching him. That one that went over his head was the true definition of a wild pitch. The rest Davis caught or kept in front of him, saving Miller from being charged with at least a couple more WPs. I believe Hayes would have done just as well. Too bad neither really knows what that wooden thingy is for that they have in their hands at the plate.

Miller didn't do a bad job. Kept them guessing what was coming next. And the combination of the two really kept us in this game. Alot of free swinging lost it.

I'm sure Davis felt the same way catching him.

But in all truth, it was a nice surprise seeing the guy succeed. Let's just hope it continues!
