August 28, 201015 yr My hopes have definately slightly raised over the past 10 days however I still can be realistic and doubt our chances of making it to the playoffs. I can't see numerous other rival teams struggling till the end of the season like they have the past week and ultimately we will most likely come up short. However it should be fun to watch the Marlins from here on in as they are more relaxed of late.

Hanley back to hitting 3rd and producing.Team scoring more, starting rotation getting deeper into games, bullpen doing better than before. Add to it the struggles of Phillies and Cardinals.......If we keep playing the wat we are now, we can give it a shot

I REALLY want them to do it, but I don't think they have the consistent starting pitching AND JJ is slowing down :confused BUT I'm going to enjoy watching them try like the last week

If we say Cogs, Cantu, and Cody (who were all having down years) were replaced by a productive trio of LoMo, Maybin, and somewhat Stanton... plus we consider Ricky to be "back"... and we realize we haven't Baker pretty much all year... our only significant loss from your statement would be Paulino. I'm not raising my hopes too high but if the replacements (plus a more productive bench, a more useful Boni, and a now a better than worst bullpen) are contributing enough... you can't put as much weight on those losses. To me, I'd say our chances the rest of the season are very good... if anything, I'm just more worried about our 20 something blown saves that will bite us in the back later. Man, the things I would do to get half of those back... damn, give me a quarter of those back and I'd do some things my mother would'nt be proud of.

August 28, 201015 yr This is a nice site. I think that if Josh Johnson can regain his form and Stanton does 275 and ten HRs the rest of the way, then the Marlins can get to ninety wins. Need Nolasco in the rotation too. Uggla, Morrison, Sanchez have been solid all year and Ramirez finally looks awake. The bullpen is now pretty solid, not perfect but solid. So Johnson and Stanton are the keys.

It's just that while Atlanta and Philly were on losing streaks, so were we and when they were winning so were we. This is why this series along with any other game against the teams in our division are huge and we have to win out each and every series from here on in my eyes along with the Braves and Phillies having a couple of bad series to be able to get close (within 2) of the division.

August 28, 201015 yr All I've wanted was hope, and we have hope...especially if we get by Hudson today....Nolasco being able to finish the year is critical. I like how the schedule sets up. Of the 35 games left, 19 against teams playing out the season..most at home. Four games against the Phils at Citizen's Bank Park where we own them..Eight more games against the Braves who we play pretty well. 25-10 is not an inconceivable finish...love the closing 4 games at home against the Pirates..wouldn't it be terrific if they meant something. I still think the Giants take the wild card, as to me it was impossible to ignore the 9 games they have left against Arizona who they absolutely own, also how well they play at home , the great starting pitching and all the additional bats they've added. But then they get shutout at home last night by Arizona, and their big ace, who's on a bad roll, gets lit up. So who knows? How Ricky holds up tonight will tell the tale of whether we have any realistic chance.

It's true that we've brought up some guys from the minors, and I suppose acquired Ohman, but that seems like a good bit of talent to miss and somehow still be able to make a run.

The Davidson blown call whick directly took away a win that became a loss, a two game swing with the Phils that will be brutal to try to make up, is what should really stick in our craw, it does in mine. August 28, 201015 yr If we sweep the Braves, we'll be "in it" at least as far as headlines and whatever unbiased media is left. People will at least look at the standings instead of ignoring them. Yeah, those who say April and May don't matter have no sense of what a full season is all about. Every loss hurts unless its immedietaly followed by a serious winning streak such as an 8 or 9 game streak. Lastly, does anyone wanna take a guess where we'd be if we, at the least, just win every series from here on out? I'm not capable of looking that up right now, but if no one does, I'll figure it out later today.

Checked quick so may be wrong but I came up with 89 wins if we won every series left including sweeping a 2 game series against the Mets since that's the only way to win it.
August 28, 201015 yr I might sound pessimistic here, and miracle runs do happen, but I'm on the "gave up after Reds swept us and am not ready to jump back on" bandwagon.
