jsprt05
There is not one member of our bullpen who consistently gets the job done. NOT ONE. Nunez?? A heart attack waiting to happen (11 for 11 is nice, but probably means he will blow more saves than usual down the stretch). Hensley?? Its called a hand rail buddy. Mujica? "I don't walk anyone because I just throw meatballs over the middle of the plate" Webb? Opponent Batting Average = .375 Sanches? Nothing special Choate? Actually decent against lefties Dunn? Solid, but still inconsistent. Collectively they may have decent numbers, BUT I am not convinced our bullpen is anywhere near top-notch. Erick
Nunez has done fine. Hensley's struggling, but was very good last year. Dunn allowed his first ER of the year today. LOL at inconsistent. Choate's been great against lefties. "Nothing special" Sanches has been just fine. Webb has struggled some, but he's been better than this in the past. Mujica's ERA doesn't take into account the jams he's gotten out of to bail out other pitchers on the team. Yeah, this bullpen is horrible. jsprt05
I'm not saying the bullpen sucks. Just that they are nowhere near as good as hoped. Yes it is an upgrade over last season, but I still have little confidence in any of our relievers.

We have half of it, so maybe I was. It actually seems like they gave us their 2 worst relievers.

Actually, their 2nd and 3rd worst relievers because Joe Thatcher was just a lefty specialist.

jsprt05
This thread needs to be burnt to the ground. Gimme a break. Why???? Instead of just whining about the thread, how about you try to convince me otherwise. Enlighten me on why I should feel good about this bullpen long-term. Also enlighten me as to why on earth anyone would dedicate their sig to Leo Nunez.
EricWiener
Please, this bullpen has been rock solid. If you expect perfection on all nights, you are watching the wrong sport.

Also enlighten me as to why on earth anyone would dedicate their sig to Leo Nunez. Why? I don't need to tell you why. It's common sense that we have one of the best bullpens in baseball. Both on paper from last season and in practice this season. I don't know. I'm weird. I like Leo Nunez and his 100% save percentage. It's actually a joke, especially for frightened people like yourself. There's no reason to be scared. Should we be worried? Apparently you are. Solid, but still inconsistent. Collectively they may have decent numbers, BUT I am not convinced our bullpen is anywhere near top-notch. Well here is my interpretation of the bullpen Choate: Does what he's suppose to do, get lefties out, quite effectively. No reason to use him for any other purpose because he turns into a Tankersly. Sanches: Been solid for us the past couple of years, and has started to this year as well. Plus if one of our SP's gets knocked around a bit, he can provide effective middle relief and keep the game in hand. Webb: From what i've heard, he's nowhere near his potential level. For this year he probably won't be a setup man. But in the future, probably a setup man or even closer. Mujica: Probably the person I'm least excited about in the BP. Just hasn't impressed me that much, but I'm sure he's not going to get any worse than what he is now. Hensley: A personal attack about his recent scuffle with stairs? Really? Hensley has been lights out as a member of our BP the past couple of years. An important piece of our pen. Dunn: The most consistent member of our pen so far. He goes and attacks hitters with electric stuff. I hope the walks come down with time, but that's the only knock on him. Nunez: Mr. 11-11. At times he looks completely dominant on that mound. Others, completely lost. Maybe he would be a setup man on some teams, but I'm fine with him as our closer. He is the hispanic Kevin Gregg but with the ability to actually tightrope his way out of situations most of the time. So maybe not top-notch. But upper-middle notch? I think so. The goal of a bullpen, as a whole, is to not allow runs. But really, regardless of which statistic you ask for, the Marlins bullpen is near the top right now.
