It seems the Cardinals have been holding on to Pujols for dear life during this process -- probably talking to him about his legacy, accomplishments with their franchise and which team he should be inducted into the HOF with, yadda yadda yadda. Reyes was a lot easier because the Mets didn't seem too attached.

I think Loria is going to have a huge chip on his shoulder. He isn't just going to get Buehrle and leave the meetings with his tail between his legs.

That was a moronic contract. They gave him an extension that wouldn't kick in until years later. I don't think you can make a real case for that much money at Howard's age.

If neither Pujols or Fielder are signed we better get more than just Buehrle.

.... It would be a disappointment considering how big of a situation this is if thats all we get, especially considering starting pitching was a big concern. I don't really understand why Bell was signed first either. Did we get a set of steel hamstrings with the Reyes signing as well?
