December 16, 201114 yr i say ken is more reliable, as much as i would love to see prince here, i just think the marlins are content enough with gaby at first
December 16, 201114 yr I still believe the team as it currently stands is still not better than the Phillies or even the Braves. Signing Fielder would make the middle of our order insane. The thought of him and Stanton possibly hitting 80 homers between the two of them is tremendous. It also gives us flexibility to trade for another starter (just as the article says). The move really does make sense for us. I would be all for a short high dollar value contract, because for the next two or three years at least he is worth over 20 mill per season.
December 17, 201114 yr So trade gaby for wade davis and sign prince Other way around - can't trade before signing.
December 17, 201114 yr per mlbtraderumors Joe Strauss of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch tweets that a well-placed source tells him Chicago's interest in Fielder is nothing more than a smokescreen and that the hefty first baseman may wind up taking a shorter-term deal. In a second tweet, Strauss speculates that the Cardinals could slow-play Carlos Beltran and see what happens with the Fielder market.
December 17, 201114 yr marlins have to go for prince, Gaby is a great guy and what not. But with prince our lineup is easily the best in the division. At first i was against prince but with most of the high market team out of the prince sweepstakes, He can be ours.

December 17, 201114 yr If the market continues to develop into a lower term for him, I would hope we jump in. Getting prince for the next 5-6 years is alot more appealing than the next 7-9 years, and worth a little extra per season based on what he should produce during the best years of his career. Plus, watching the best right/lefty power combo in baseball for the better part of the decade would be incredible. Pitching wins games, but chicks dig the longball.
December 17, 201114 yr I feel like Miami is so close, but right now they're still only the third team in the NL East. Signing Prince and trading Gaby for a #4 starter could really push this team over the top.

December 17, 201114 yr chicks dig the longball sacrifice bunt. Not all chicks are as special as you, PurpleHaze!

December 18, 201114 yr Cubs are reportedly (according to Heyman), after Anthony Rizzo. This would cut down one suitor for Fielder.
December 18, 201114 yr I await Boras to advise teams his client may consider playing in Japan if the market really is THIS DRY for him....I'm pretty sure Prince would supplant Matsui's legend as the real Godzilla if he played in Japan.
December 18, 201114 yr Nope. Have Samson ever hinted that we were going after him? Well for all we know their probably playing it low key ala angels with pujols
December 18, 201114 yr Nope. Have Samson ever hinted that we were going after him? Well for all we know their probably playing it low key ala angels with pujols Why would they do that for Fielder if they didn't do that for any of the players to which they gave offers? It's pretty clear that the Marlins aren't interested in Fielder.
December 18, 201114 yr The angels swooping in quietly and stealing pujols and c.j may have taught the fish front office a different strategy on how to deal with free agents.
