There's much more competition at 3B than SS, in my opinion. With Reyes on the Marlins now, the only other real dominant SS in the NL is Tulo.

I have a slight problem with the "was, is, and will continue to be" part of your post. I'll give you the "was" part. Maybe even grudgingly the "is" part. And although you can point to his history as evidence of the "will continue to be" part, I have to disagree. Some people simply take a little longer to mature. Some never do. Age has nothing to do with it, but I am going to at least hope that Hanley is reaching that level. If he shows he hasn't, then it wouldn't surprise me to see a trade take place during the season.

Its been almost 3 years since that time and time is running out on his maturity catching up to his playing days. And I shouldn't have to remind you this is only a personal opinion. I don't state it as fact, just observation, with my years of experience in dealing with many, many difficult personalities during my life whether it be in my professional, familial or personal relationships. I seen people like Hanley time and again come through my workplace and leave just as arrogant, but without a job in the end. Some of them learn I guess and some don't but in the end it was a better workplace for the rest of us, after they were gone, regardless of their work potential. It made our workplace team stronger to lose the personality that caused the friction. I feel the same "cleansing" might improve the Marlins, in that the person of difficulty is gone and would allow the others on the team to concentrate more on their jobs instead of having to worry about always how some situation whether it be something they say or something that they do, bothers Hanley.

 

In a workplace you usually have 3 types of personalities and a sports team is no different. The ones that will follow and do whatever you ask - walk through a wall for you. Then you have the ones that always complain and want to do things their way - the Hanley's so to speak. They never are easy to deal with and always are causing some kind of disruption. Maybe they need to be the center of attention or whatever, but there is always drama surrounding them. The you have the ones that watch and are being pulled in one direction or the other by the other two groups. If you can eliminate as many of the ones that cause disruption your workplace or team will be greatly benefited. It can take an otherwise above average team and make them great. In our case it could be the catalyst, depending on the pieces we get back for a Hanley trade the pieces we need to become greater as a team.

 

As for my case, to my knowledge I haven't violated a single rule of this board in making my POV. But I could make the point that more than one of the Cyber Bullies on this board has been trolling my posts, and continue to do so, which IMO is a violation of the boards TOS I believe. I have reported several posts that have been personal attacks on my character, on my person and about my physical age. There is no reason to believe the reports of the Red Sox having renewed interest unless they have been proven. There is nothing official from either team that I have seen that makes me feel that report is more credible than the reports that Hanley was unhappy and causing consternation within the organization.

It's no question that Hanley Ramirez's behavior on and off the field at the end of Fredi's tenure was deplorable. It took me a while to warm back up to him. I buried his jersey in the bottom of my drawer for the rest of the season. Time heals all wounds, and people grow as individuals with time. Some take longer than others. I think Ozzie Guillen is the perfect manager to kind of get through to Hanley like no one else has been able to. I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt here and, more importantly, not dwelling on an incident that happened years ago. The bottom line is, when Hanley Ramirez is healthy, he is a monster. He said he would move to third if that is what is needed to win. He doesn't have to do a backflip to show his excitement about getting Reyes and moving to third.
