April 10, 201214 yr How did we go from Ozzie and Castro being best friends to ban bet to religion, then a picture of a traffic sign to f***ing Zach Morris That's so Marlinsbaseball!

NO THANKS TO HEATH BELL, AMIRITE?
April 10, 201214 yr Given how rash Loria can be, could he bow to pressure from the exiles and fire Guillen?
April 10, 201214 yr I don't think Loria gives a ****. Given how quickly the Marlins put out that statement, are you sure about that?
April 10, 201214 yr I don't think Loria gives a ****. Given how quickly the Marlins put out that statement, are you sure about that? They had to. That means nothing in terms of firing Ozzie Guillen.

April 10, 201214 yr I think Robert Flores just compared the Phillies, as the NL East's reigning dictator, to Fidel Castro :lol FIRE HIM NOW, ESPN!!!!
April 10, 201214 yr Dude I'm Cuban as hell and honestly who cares what Ozzie said?! Get over it....Just cause I say "man, I wish I was as strong a leader as Hitler" does not mean in any way shape or form mean I condone that monster...and you know what, I agree with Ozzie...I hate Fidel and I wish I could be the one that stabs him in the eyes with one of hermida's old shattered bats, but 60 years and they haven't gotten him yet...you gotta tip your hat to that douchebag. For the record, he is an idiot though for even touching that subject around here though....like, wow lol
April 10, 201214 yr You know what I don't understand? Why do idiots with no real knowledge or context of politics and history feel it appropriate to give their asinine opinions? Actors, musicians, baseball managers...etc. I'm Cuban, and I don't care about what he said, but I don't understand WHAT WAS THE POINT? Was it worth it, Ozzie? Giving your oh so knowledgeable opinion on what does, or doesn't make a leader respectable? Also, I'd also like to be respected simply for doing what the body is meant to do. Live.
April 10, 201214 yr Darn it, I missed out on the religious talk. :boo-woo I was going to ask if anyone else here was a Pastafarian? Any other members of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster here? :sleazy
April 10, 201214 yr Castrogate is front page news on the Miami Herald website. Anyone want to bet Ozzie is front page news on tomorrow's edition of the Miami Herald?

Giving your oh so knowledgeable opinion on what does, or doesn't make a leader respectable? I like when people do this sort of thing. Do you think Ozzie called a press conference to make this pronouncement? He was asked a question during the course of a discussion, and in his usual way, answered it in an un-filtered, off-the-cuff manner. He was almost certainly making an off-color joke, but it's not like he just decided to say 'HERE'S MY OPINION ON CASTRO' without prompting.
April 10, 201214 yr Ozzie got a little carried away with his "reputation" and the limits he thought he erased. But its one thing to talk trash about Javier Vasquez. whole nother thing to talk politics...of a communist country...that you aren't from!!! Come on oz lol
April 10, 201214 yr If Ozzie Guillen makes front page news in the Miami Herald tomorrow, can I post a picture of it here? I just know it will. Did you guys read the mayor's press statement today? He came close to asking the Miami Marlins to get Ozzie's resignation. Ozzie has no idea of the political firestorm he unleashed. Every two bit politician in Miami-Dade county is trying to capitalize on Ozzie's comments. They sure don't let an opportunity go to waste. All of them were on the news today trying to out-Cuban each other to get some browny points with constituents.

Any other members of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster here? :sleazy You're a lawyer AND a Pastafarian? We may yet get something good out of these new members....
April 10, 201214 yr Politicians arwoad worthless as a sack of sh*t at a culinary convention. Oh by the way, I'm a Quaker and we make good oatmeal.
April 10, 201214 yr I was really hoping that the first time Ozzie made a controversial statement here, it would be calling LoMo a queer or something entertaining. This is just (pardon my choice of words) retarded.

He was almost certainly making an off-color joke, but it's not like he just decided to say 'HERE'S MY OPINION ON CASTRO' without prompting. Disagree. Interviewers ask trigger questions, hoping you slip up and they can make money off you and the resulting s*** storm. A public figure should use common sense. Is he entirely socially unaware? Does he not know part of the audience he's catering to? Hell, the Venezolanos I know don't "respect" Fidel Castro's ability to be alive. They worried when Chavez and him became buddies. His platform should be used for more than making incendiary comments that don't involve baseball. I'm all for him upsetting the team and the fans; upsetting people is part of his charm, but I don't care about his thoughts outside of baseball. It's amazing that everyone pretty much has it ingrained (it wasn't just me, right?) that you don't discuss sex, politics and religion with just anyone, but famous people think everyone should have to hear their opinions on everything.
